GINNED TO MIDDLE OF MONTH
, Report Issue Yesterday Covers Cot
| ton Ginned to Dec. 1 4th and 11,-
099,000 is Estimate.—The Market
Deiines and Demand is Poor.
Americus warehousemen and buyers
awaited with interest the publication
yesterday of the December ginners re
port, given out at noon and covering
the total of the crop ginned to the 14th
inst. And the estimate came a little
better than expected.
The figures showed 11,099,000 bales
ginned to that date.
And whereas a decided “break” in
prices was rather expected, the market
really declined but little. But it de
clined, just the same, as it generally
does when a bureau report is issued.
In the Americus market the price for
good middling spots fell below the ten
cents notch for the first time in months,
while the lower grades declined in like
proportion. All vitality seemed to be
knocked out of cotton, with nothing
doing at the warehouses.
While the demand is normal only,
and poorer grades drag at 8} to 9 cents,
Americus cotton men are inclined to be
hopeful of higher prices after the holi
days. By that time the jamming of
bales at the ports will probably have
ceased to an extent.
There is little cotton left in Americus
warehouses, and even less on the farms
in this vicinity.
