AMERICUS PUNTS RECEIVING RUSH
ORDERS
Several South Georgia Towns Eace
Ice Famine and Order Carload
Lots Here.
Both Americus ice factories have,
for several days past, -been receiving
urgent orders for ice from other
towns in southern Georgia, the de
mands being for any quantity from
a ton to carload lots. The towns
thus ordering were then entirely out
of ice.
From Dawson, Cordele, Albany and
other points where it was hot came
the demand for ice.
Americus has an abundant supply
of ice for the home market, and, as
far as possible, has filled the orders
pouring in from towns less fortunate
in this respect.
Ice, at present, is a necessity, and
not a luxury.
Manager Mitchell of the City Ice
Co. received a hurry order for two
carloads of ice which, at the moment,
he was unable to fill. Accordingly
he wired a Columbus factory to rush
him two carloads here without a
day’s delay.
The reply came that the company
had the ice, but could not secure
cars for shipment; or the labor to
load two cars.
So urgent was the demand that
Mr. Mitchell made arrangements to
get cars here for the purpose and
wired the Columbus plant to this
effect; also agreeing to send six’
freight handlers along with the emp
ty cars to insure their being load
ed.
But the ice came without resorting
to this extreme.
Another customer in a south Geor
gia town wired for a carlioad to be
shipped immediately, and lsy special
engine if it could not be hurried by
train. This order was filled, as are
all others that are pouring in upon
the factories.
During the recent intensely hot
weather the demand for ice here has
been enormous and all plants are
being operated at their capacity in
an effort to fill orders.

H4S RECEIPT PROM THE MANAGER
Team Given More Than Its Share of
Receipts.
Seemingly not content with their
inability to measure bats successful
ly with Americus’ ball talent, the
the Montezuma aggregation of im
ported players are chewing the rag
and alleging unfair treatment.
Some of them, it is reported here,
claimed thgt the visiting club did
not receive its full share of the gate
receipts—a yarn pure and srniple, as
everyone knows.
The clubs were to divide the gate
receipts of the game, amounting to a
total of $77.15.
Montezuma’s share, therefore,
would have been $38.57.
Instead, however, they were given
$lO, or $1.43 moVe than their por
tion. Manager Joe Brown of the
Americus team, holds Manager Saw
tell’s receipt for the amount given
the visitors, which read thusly:
‘Received of Joe L. Brown S4O,
for one half of gate receipts for ball
game this day played between Am
ericas and Montezuma.
(Signed) J. C. SAWTELL,
Manager.

A FACT PROVEN.
Should Convince Even the Most Skep

If there is the slightest doubt in the
minds of any that Dandruff germs do not
exist, their belief is compelled by the
fact that a rabbit Innoculated with the
germs became bald In six weeks’ time.
It must be apparent to any person
therefore that the only prevention of
baldness is the destruction of the germ—
which act is successfully accomplished
in one hundred per cent, of cases by
the application of Newbro’s Herpicide.
Dandruff is caused by the same germ
which causes baldness and can be pre

Col. U. B. Harrold of the Central

“The Central’s pay roll increase

“Our earnings increased just aboi
