NEW YORK, October sth.
The models in skirts are showing
overskirts and straigh or draped tun
ic effects. It is hard to tell whether
this style of over-skirts will be ac
cepted by women of fashion as it is
so long since they were popular. On
the very long belted coats the skirt
part hangs loose in the tunic effect,
and as these are very fashionable, it
as possible the overskirt proper will
he the vogue. Some of the tunic ef
fects are so long and supple, that
they appear almost like a part of the
skirt.
The latest thing for trimming chif
’'Sin, cloth, silk and any of the novelty
fabrics, is chenille embroidery or filet
lace mesh. A Calendonian green filet
~iet. has a Persian design in dull soft
cones, which makes a beautiful piece
if trimming. A narrow black satin
hand is at the top edge, a wider one
it the other edge and above the
border design is a very narrow satin
fold.

blue silk.
A smart costume that is being
much worn has a skirt of green
broadcloth in one those foliage
greens, vivid, yet soft. The coat is
of black chiffon velvet Avith a high
vreen collar and touches of green in
the cuffs and large buttons. It is trim
med with fine soutache braid and
fine thread dull gold lace which looks
more like old gold thread than metal.
The new models in belts are more
attractive than e\’er before, and the
more unusual they appear, the more
stylish they are considered. A par
ticularly attractive one is of black
taffeta richly embroidered, with a
bucklp in oblong shape, hand-carved,
shaded in oxydized silver with a de
sign of iris and leaves. Another of
red Japanese leather, is embossed in
a design of plumes in green and gold,
which has an antique finish. The
buckle is of frosted gilt.
On many of the new frocks are
seen the mosquetaire sleeves which
wrinkle from the shoulders to wrist
and then come to a point over the
hand in the Mary Stuart fashion.
These sleeves are made of the mater
ial like the yoke.
Purple is the color that is growing
more popular in millinery. It is too
conspicuous a shade to be worn for a
costume so it is confined to hats or
their trimmings. Purple grapes seem
to be preferred rather than the royal
purple, and violet is liked a little bet
ter than lavender and heliotrope.
The flower trimmings are seen in
morning glories and chrysanthemums
and roses in tan, brown or dull blue
shades. These new roses will not be
as large as those of last spring.
Jet trimmings are shown in big as
sortments. Beaded and spangled
hands, and galoons in all widths are
very popular, also medallions, fring
es, tassels and panels for skirts.
Some of the jet is brightened by steel
traceries which is intermingled.
Novelties in veil pins come in
matching sets for the linen collar,
and are set with semi-precious stones.
Facts About the Great Mafustic Range.
It is the only range in the world made of Malleable
and Charcoal Iron.
It lias, beyond any question of a doubt, the largest
and best reservoir.
It uses about half the fuel used on other ranges, and
does better work by far.
The Majestic All Copper Nickled Beservoir beats the
water quicker and hotter than any other. It is the only
reservoir with a remoyable frame.
The Charcoal Iron Body of the Great Majestic Range
lasts three times as long as a steel body.
Being made of lion-breakable material, there is
practically no expense for repairing the Majestic.
As lor baking, ( it is perfection, not only for a few
months, but for all'times to come.
A GREAT MAJESTIC RANGE lasts three times as
long as a cheap range, but it don’t cost three times as much.
PROOF—We don’t ask you to take our word for any
of the above statements, but you will call at our store, a
man from .he factory, where Majestic ranges are made,
will prove to your satisfaction, that these are absolute
facts, and will show you many more reasons why the
Great Majestic Range is absolutely the best money can buy
Monogram pins with matching combs
are new and pretty. The bars of
pearls and a single amethyst are
very attractive.
A new and fetching bretelle is made
of lace insertion bordered with black
velvet ribbon, the whole being Avide
on the shoulders and tapering to
ward the waist line. The girdle is
made in the same way as the bretel
les. in the front a deep-pointed lace
medallion fastens over the girdle, and
in the hack, the Empire effect is pro
duced by a black velvet bow of many
loops fastened up about seven inches
from the waistline. From the bow
hang many long ends of varying
lengths. This is a very neat dress ac
cesory and would he found useful to
freshen an old waist.
The stiff linen collar is a favorite
neck finish for French women, but
they have added jewels to them to
change their appearance a bit. Jew
eled pins and gem studded buttons
worn like sleeve links to hold parts
of the collar together are the latest
fancies.
Waists of plaid or checked silk are
very good style. Most of them are
strictly tailored, trimmed only with
straps, hands, and self covered or tiny
gilt buttons. The juniper style for
waists will be the vogue during the
fall and winter months. These are
shown in the sling sleeve in Japan
ese effect, and in many the guimpe
is a part of the waist, Avhile iff others
it is entirely separate, so can be
worn with different guimpes.
