MISSOURI TACKLING
GREAT WEALTH
Several Big Cases Come
Up This Month,
Gould Lines, Standard Oil And Ice
Trust Involved.
JEFFERSON CITY, IND., October
B. (Special)—The respondents in
the suit brought by Attorney General
Hadley against the Gould lines in
Misouri, to dissolve an alleged mer
ger, will make their return Thurs
day.
This case was argued before the
supreme court on a demurrer, which
was overruled. The question is the
right of the Missouri Pacific to hold a
majority of the stock of the Iron
Mountain and Wabash roads, the Pa
cific Express company and several
coal companies. In the case of the
Wabash, it is also alleged to be a
parallel and competing line.
Another important anti-trust suit,
that against the Standard Oil Com
pany, will also come up this month,
having been set for argument before
the state supreme court October 23.
The purpose of the suit is to oust the
Standard, Waters-Pierce and Republic
oil companies fro mthe state for alleg
ed violation of the anti-trust laws.
Testimony was taken all over the
country, from Kansas to New’ York.
Judge Anthony, who conducted the
hearings, reported finding the com
panies’ guilty as charged of violating
the statutes by combining to control
prices. To this report the respond
ents have excepted. While the pur
pose is to oust the companies from
the State, the supreme court may sus
pend this action on the payment of
a fine. It is expected that this fine
will be about $25,000 for each of the

FROM PRISON
TO WEDDING
WORCESTER, MASS., Oct. 8.
(Special)—The marriage of Miss
Clara Cecilia Leach and John W.
Maher, which was solemnized in St.
John’s Church this morning, was the
culmination of a romance out of the
ordinary. The bride is one of the
wealthiest women in Worcester and
prominent socially. Mr. Maher is
prominently connected with the club,
lodge and business life of the city.
About four years ago he was sent to
jail because of accusations of misap
propriation of funds made against
him by the senior member of the firm
with which he was connected. He
was released under a new’ State law’
after he had served three and a half
years. His bride-to-be steadfastly
refused to believe in his guilt and
immediately he was released from
prison arrangements for their wed
ding were made.

Facts About the Great Majestic Range.
It is the only range in the world made of Malleable
and Charcoal Iron.
» It has, beyond any question of a doubt, the largest
and best reservoir.
It uses alrout half the fuel used on other ranges, and
does better work by far.
The Majestic All Copper Nickled Reservoir heats the
water .quicker and hotter than any other. Itistbeonly
reservoir with a remoyable frame.
The Charcoal Iron Body of the Great Majestic Range
lasts three times as long as a steel body.
Beinfir made of non-breakable material, there is
practically no expense for repairing the Majestic.
As for baking, it is perfection, not only for a few
mouths, lout for all times to come.
A GREAT MAJESTIC RANGE lasts three times as
long as a cheap range, but it don’t cost tliree times as much.
PROOF —We don’t ask you to take our word for any
of the above statements, but you will call at our store, a
man from .lie factory, where Majestic ranges are made,
will prove to your satisfaction, that these are absolute
facts, and will show you many more reasons why tlte
Great Majestic Range is absolutely the best money can buy
Making Good.
There is no way of making lasting
friends iike Making Good;’’ and Doctor
Pierce's medicines well exemplify this,
and their friends, after more than two
decades of popularity, are numbered by
the hundreds of thousands. They have
"made good” and they have not made
drunkards.
A good, honest, square-deal medicine of
known composition is Dr. Pierce’s Golden
Medical Discovery. It still enjoys an im
mense sale, while most of the prepara
tions that have come into prominence in
the eatlier period of its popularity have
"gone by the board” and are never more
heard of. There must be some reason for
this long-time popularity and that is to
be found in its superior merits. When
once given a fair trial for weak stomach,
or for liver and blood affections, its supe
rior curative qualities are soon manifest;
hence it has survived and grown in pop
ular favor, while scores of less meritorious
articles have suddenly Hashed into favor
for a brief period and then been as soon
forgotten.
For a torpid liver with its attendant
indigestion, dyspepsia, headache, per
haps dizziness, foul breath, nasty coated
tongue, with bitter taste, loss of appetite,
with distress after eating, nervousness
and debility, nothing is so good as Dr.
Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery. It's
an honest, square-deal medicine w ith all
its ingredients printed on bottle-wrapper
—no secret, no hocus-pocus humbug,
therefore don’t accept a substitute that
the dealer may possibly make a little big
ger profit. Insist on your right to have
what you call for.
Don’t buy Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescrip
tion expecting it to prove a "cure-all.” It
is only advised for woman’s special ail
ments. It makes weak women strong and
sick women well. Less advertised than
some preparations sold for like purposes,
its sterling curative virtues still maintain
its position in the front ranks, where it
stood over two decades ago. As an in
vigorating tonic and strengthening nerv
ine it is unequaled. It won't satisfy those
who want " booze,” for there is not a drop
of alcohol in it.
Dr. Pierce’s Pleasant Pellets, the origi
nal Little Liver Pills, although the first
pill of their kind in the market, still lead,
and when once tried are ever afterwards
in favor. Easy to take as candy—-one to
three a dose. Much imitated but never
equaled.
