The Ludden & Oates
siaVe PIANO
is a genuine $;oo.oo instrument if judged by the values of other pianos. It would cost
$400.00 too, only for our plan of making and selling one hundred pianos at a time, in
stead of a single* piano like other dealers. The saving to you issU3;-$287 instead of $.400.
The Ludden and Dates New Scale Piano is guaranteed for a life time. Has special
copper-wound and steel strings throughout. Full cabinet grand, balanced scale, as
perfect as skill can make it. Don e repeating action, with light, even touch. Gen
uine ivory keys. Beautiful cases of fancy walnut, mahogany or oak, lined through
out with birds-eye maple. Tone full and rich, with that peculiar '‘singing” quality
found only in the highest grade of piano.
In case of the death of the head of the family we cancel the club contract and
I make you an outright present of the unpaid balance. The piano then belongs to you
absolutely. This free life insurance has allowed the completion of many a musical
education, and is worth j our Consideration. It is practically an assurance that you
w ill not lose your piano through inability to pay dues.
Write us at once for an application blank and complete description of different
styles of finish. In this way you can make a selection that will delight you. You
c*ui leave the question of tone to us. We will see that you get a perfect instrument.
A well made, attractive stool and a beautiful scarf go with each piano. Write for
full information of the club that is now forming.

The Beer of Quality
is a pure, healthful food—for brain-workers
and muscle-workers.
Pure —because only the best barley
grain and the choicest hops are used, and
absolute cleanliness marks every step in its
brewing.
Food —because the Pabst Eight-Day
Malting Process follows Nature closely and
retains every particle of the wholesome
food-values of the barley-grain which the
Pabst Perfect Brewing Process transmits
to the beer in predigested form.
Healthful —because the malt is nour
ishing, the hops are invigorating and the
very low percentage of alcohol (3 htfo)
mildly stimulates the digestive organs to
proper activity.
You will find that your appetite is better, your digestion is bet
ter, your health is better, when you drink Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Made by Pabst at Milwaukee
And Bottled only at the Brewery.

NO TRACE 0E ROBBERS
0E SAEES AT D'SOTO
Warning as to Yeggmen
Given Banks.
The robbery of three safes near
Americus recently, those at De Soto
and Cobb, is still veiled in mystery—
a mystery that perhaps will remain
unsolved, while the bold robbers have
long since gone with their rich booty
to other fields to repeat their daring
deed.
Not a trace of themselves did the
dynamiters leave.
Owing to the wide-awakeness that
is displayed by “yeggmen” in other
portions of the country, the Pinkerton
Detective agency lias warned the
banks in this section to keep their
eyes skinned for suspicious charac
ters and to exercise uncommon alert
ness.
Dark, stormy nights are especially
cited as times for care, and it is point
ed out that harmless looking pedlars,
who shove greasy bills at the paying
teller to be changed into nickles, are
realy advance agents of “yeggmen.”
These sharpers all the while use
their eyes to good advantage in find
ing out the position of the bank vault,
of what make it is, and other informa
tion that might come in handy.
Following is a portion of the circu
lar that the Pinkerton agency is send
ing throughout the south.
Bank, vault and safe burglars are
showing unusual activity in eastern,
middle west and coast States. We
recommend that every possible pre
vention and precaution be used.
These burglars operate usually on
dark, stormy nights, especially when
thereis no moon.
Keep a bright light burning in front
of vault or safe all night, with shades
up, so that a view of interior of bank
can always be had from the street.
Pedlars of small wares are in many
instances the advance agents, or “lo
caters” for tramp burglars, using
these pretexts or by requesting the
teller to change a five dollar bill, they
observe conditions inside the bank,
make of vault or safe, etc. They also
may remain for several days in towns
where a bank vault or safe burglary
is contemplated ,to dertime what the
protection is; whether by policemen,
night watchmen, etc.
NEGRO FAIR BEGINS
AT MACON TODAY
Tuberculosis Congress Will
Be a Feature.
MACON, GA., October 29.—(Special)
—Negroes from all over the South will
gather tomorrow in Macon for the sec
ond annual colored state fair, which
opens its gates tomorrow and will
last until November 10. An unique
feature will be the session of the
first tuberculosis congress ever held
by the negroes, in which leading negro
physicians from several southern
states will take part.
Ex-Governor W. J. Northen and
Hon. Clark Howell, of Atlanta, will
deliver addresses during the fair.
Other speakers who have been given
places on the program include Booker
Washington, Bishops Gaines and Ty
ree, and Dr. E. C. Morris, president
of the National Colored Baptist con
vention.
The exhibits include inventions of
negroes, the prize products of negro
farms, manufactured goods and illus
trations of life on southern planta
tions during slavery times. Five
thousand dollars in premiums xvill be
! distributed among the exhibitors.
| The use of the Central City Park
has been granted by the city for the
purposes of the fair ,and the white
citizens of the city and state have
combined with the negroes in making
j this a noteworthy exposition of the
| progress of the colored race in Geor
! gia and the South.

VETERANS SPANISH
WAR WILL MEET
Goavention Galled Tor Ma
con Next Month.
A convention of the United Spanish
War Veterans will be held in Macon
about the middle of November, the
exact date not having been decided on.
While the organization is very strong
in the East and West, it has never
attained any great strength in Geor
gia. Delegates from camps at Augus
ta, Savannah, Atlanta and other plac
es will be in attendance, and Depart
ment Commander Charles W. Parker
of Elberton, Ga., hopes to have a large
attendance of comrades from all over
the state. Arrangements will be made
for special rates at the hotels, and
the comrades from Macon will doubt
less do their best to give all visitors
a good time. Announcement of the
exact date will be made in the near
future.
Americus had two companies in the
Spanish American war, but has no
camp. It is probable that a delegation
will go from here, and that steps
may be later taken towards getting
up membership for a local organiza
tion.
