"MAYOR OF TOKYO”
TAKES TRAIN ROOM
The magnitude of the production to
be accorded the Richard Carle farci
cal opera “The Mayor of Tokyo,”
which comes to Glover’s Opera House
on Monday night may be estimated
from the railroad equipment neces
sary to transport the company and
its effects. On the trip from New
York the Pennsylvania Railroad fur
nished "two 60-foot baggage cars, a
day coach and two standard Pull
man sleepers for the special service
required. It is a large company and
the stage production is exactly the
same in every particular as that which
won all New York’s admiration dur
ing its long run of 210 nights at the
New York Theatre.

MODERATE NET GAINS
IN COTTON MARKET
Local Spot Market Was
Deserted by Buyers.
Net gains of sto 12 points were
recorded in the cotton contract mar
ket yesterday, partly due to an upfr
ward trend in Liverpool’s latter ses
sion. This was taken to mean that
the threatened shortening of hours
in the mills would not materalize. In
the South spots were still held firm
ly, though the New Orleans market
eased off a point. After the open
ing, which was a trifle lower at New
Orleans for some positions, as com
pared with the previous close, both
, markets moved up. March and Mav
, at New York touched the 11 cent, lev
el, but eased off again. Late in the
session an improvement of several
points was made.
The New York market opened un
changed to 6 points higher. Fluctua
tions were irregular, the distant posi
tions showing a decided weakness
around the noon hour, but rallied
i again. The close was around the
i best, steady, 11 to 12 points above
the final for Wednesday. Spot prices
were unchanged. New Orleans
opened unchanged to 3 points off. but
soon advanced. A reaction occurred
in the afternoon, but near the last
an advance set in, the close being
steady, 5 points net higher for the
day for the active months. Spot
quotations were reduced l-16c.
Liverpool opened 2 1-2 to 6 points
lower for the active positions, which
was about as expected. At the 2
o’clock call a small improvement had
been noted, which became much more
pronounced as the close drew near.
The market at the last was very
steady, 1 to 3 points above the close
for \yednesday. Spot values were
cut down 9 points, the sales being
7,000 bales. The English market is
due to open unchanged this morn
ing.
In the local spot market there was
not much doing. A few scattering
bales changed hands but the demand
was limited to one buyer. No cotton
was offering. Quotations are un
changed from Wednesday.

ONLY NEGESSARY TO
TREAT THE STOMAGH
Claim of Central Figure in Recent Controversy
is Novel.
The new theoly advanced by L. T.
Cooper relative to the human stom
ach has attracted such widespread at
tention that the public in cities
visited by the young man has been
joined by many physicians in a dis
cussion of his beliefs and medicines.
Mr. Cooper says that human health
is dependent almost entirely upon
the stomach. He says that no dis
ease can be conquered without first
alleviating all stomach disorders. He
further says that most men and wom
en of this generation ar e half-sick,
owing to degenerate stomachs. And
lastly he claims that his New Dis
covery medicine will rejuvenate the
human stomach in 90 days.
Cooper has been traveling from
one city to another, conducting in
each what he calls a campaign of
education. For the past year he has
met the public in the larger cities
of the country, and his success has
been phenomenal. Thousands of
people have flocked to his headquar
ters wherever he has gone, and the
sale of iiis medicine has been beyond
anything of the kind ever before wit
nessed.
Possibly the most interesting fea
ture of the attention this young man
has attracted is what his army of
followers, whom he has converted to
his beliefs through his medicines,
have to say on the subject. The fol
lowing statements are from two well
known residents of Chicago and Bos
ton, respectively, and the enthusiasm
of these is characteristic o£ Cooper’s
admirers generally.
Mrs. H. B. Mack, of 3201 State
street, Chicago, says: “I have been
suffering for 12 years from a com
bination of stomach troubles', catarrh
and constipation. I had a gnawing
pain in the pit of my stomach, a sort

of a dull pain that 1 could not quite
understand. Then there /was a dull
headache, and my mind seemed to be
wandering continually. I could not
eat, and whar little solid food I did
eat I could not retain on my stomach.
I tried every remedy I could think of,
and also tried out a number of patent
medicines, but without any apparent
result. It was through one of my
friends that I heard of Cooper’s prep
aration, and 1 immediately decided
to try some of it. It is two weeks
since I took my first dose of it, and
I feel like a new woman. The head
ache seems to have disappeared, and
the pain in my stomach along with
it. The medicine is worth its weight
in gold, and I want to thank Mr.
Cooper for what he has done for
me.”
Mr. Edwin F. Morse, of 20 Oakley
street, Dorchester, a suburb of Bos
ton, says: “For three years I had
not a well day. My stomach was in
frightful shape; the mere thought of
food would nauseate me, and I really
had a horror of anything to eat. All
solid food would cause me extreme
indigestion, bloating and gas on my
stomach, and nothing tasted right.
Some time ago I got some of this
Cooper’s medicines, about which
there is so much talk. I actually
feel as well and strong as a boy ever
since the first bottle. Every sign of
stomach trouble has disappeared, and
I have a hearty appetite and eat
three square meals; every thing
seems to taste good. Anyone who
knows what chronic indigestion is
can appreciate what this means to
me. L consider this the most remark
able medicine I ever heard of.”
