The greatest affliction anticipated as a consequence of the late temper
ance move is that there was no satisfactory substitute to offer in place of beer.
Acme-Brew solves this question, not as a substitute, but as a superior
to beer —a beverage identical wfith the famous old English ales of world
renown. We have placed in charge of'our splendidly equipped plant, a
master brewer direct from his fields of triumph in England; a man wfflose
years and years of experience have been rewarded with gold medals in
Europe, Canada and America.
As a result, Acme-Brew is prepared entirely -within the require
ments of the Pure Food and Prohibition Laws, and far above the most
sanguine expectations of the drinkers of spirituous liquors, wfflo labor under
the fear that there is no satisfactory substitute for BEER.
ACME-BREW is an ideal tonic, a delightful beverage and a food
property of inestimable value for every member ot the fanjiiy in every home.
ACME-BREW is sold at all hotels, clubs, bars, cases, etc., and by all beverage dealers .

What Fashion Says as to Colors.
"In the choice of colors for the
spring of 1908, Fashion seems less
capricious and more utilitarian than
for many a long time,” say s Grace !
Margaret Gould in her fashion talk
in the March number of the Woman's
Home Companion. "It was blue last
fall, and it's to be blue again this
spring—blue, however, in many fas
cinating shades, such as cardinal
blue, which is duck blue, a very lov
ely, delicate shade. Copenhagen blue
continues in fashionable favor, and
navy blue and royal blue for every
day wear are looked upon as reliable,
good-style colors. Next to the blues
comes the browns. A beaver shade
of brown i* very fashionable, and so
are the russets and a citron shade.
Chamois color will be used more than
ever, and the bread and biscuit tints.
Tan is a good color to choose for a
gown from the fashion standpoint,
and cream is also the mode. A num
ber of shades of green will be worn,
and a few grays on the mole order."

COTTON VALUES ON
DOWNWARD ROAD
In Local Market Quotations
Reduced 1-8 Cent.
The cotton markets pulled heavily
| yesterday, both at home and abroad.
In the American markets the start
off was at small losses, which were
well augmented before the session
was done. Except for a brief rally
just after the opening, the tendency
was almost uniformly lower. Net
losses for the day were 12 to 17
points for old crop positions. Even
the limited selling by the bears prov
i ed sufficient to force the market point
by point lower. The break in the
Liverpool market, following a dis
appointing opening, was one of the
influences at work on this side of
the pond.
New York opened 2 to 4 points
lower, but gained a point ail round
in the next few minutes. This exer
tion seemed too great and prices turn
ed downward. The close was at the
lowest, steady, 18 to 17 points net
lower for the more active months,
but only 4 points down for October.
Spots were marked down 15 points.
New Orleans opened 3 to 5 points
lower, but after a brief spurt, work
ed lower. Occasional rallies occur
red. but at the last prices were only
a few points from the bottom. 12 to
14 points lower as compared with
the close for the day before. Spot
quotations were reduced 1-Sc.
Liverpool opened 2 to 5 points low
er. which was not quite as good as
due. A slight sagging from these
prices was shown at the early after
noon call. The close was easy, 5 to
I') points below the final for Fri
day. Spot prices were marked down
9 points, the sales being 8,000 bales.
Locally there was nothing doing.
Inquiries were in the market for
a moderate amount of good cotton on
the basts of 11 1-8 cents, but holders
were firm in their views. Quotations
are reduced 1-8 of a cent from Mon
day.
