TAKING THE WISE LOSS
It is a proof of sound business judgment to know when,
where and how to sacrifice profits so that the store and its
buying public may be both benefited. We believe that now
is the time to clean up all winter lines of merchandise. The
profit making season on these lines is over, but the wearing
season, the using season has months to run yet. You’ll find it
greatly to your advantage to change your money for merch
andise in this store at all times, but especially now.

THAT THIEF IS STILL
ENJOYING HIS CIGARS
Police at Sea Regarding
Burglar.
Doubtless enjoying the discomfiture
of the police in their futile efforts to
catch him, the young burglar, who
made the sixth successful raid upon
Americus stores a few nights ago
continues to puff Joe Brown’s fifteen
cent cigars and count his money.
Sixty five dolars in cash and sev
eral boxes of Perfectos will go far
towards making summer, a glad holi
day for this window climber, who al
ways gets off scot free.
No clue to his identity has yet been
discovered by the police.
Citizens generally believe that all
these burglaries here were committed
by the same high-class artist.
First, Dodson’s Pharmacy was en
tered by a rear window; ditto the
Harris Hardware store; ditto the
Sheffield-Huntington Co. Next, the
Thomas store, opposite the police sta
tion, was robbed twice, although this
fact was not generally known until
quite recently.
In both raids on the Thomas place
the thief got a good sum of money.
Resting a whole week, he then raided
Brown's place for about $125, and is
still enjoying sweet liberty.
Over=Work Weakens
Your Kidneys.
Unhealthy Kidneys Make Impure Blood.
All the blood in your body passes through
your kidneys once every three minutes.
fThe kidneys are your
blood purifiers,ihey fil
ter out the waste or
impurities in the blood.
If they are sick or out
of order, they fail to do
their work.
Pains, aches and rheu
matism come from ex
cess of uric acid in the
blood, due to neglected
kidney trouble.
Kidney trouble causes quick or unsteady
heart beats, and makes one feel as though
they had heart trouble, because the heart is
over-working in pumping thick, kidney
poisoned blood through veins and arteries.
It used to be considered that only urinary
troubles were to be traced to the kidneys,
but now modern science proves that nearly
11 constitutional diseases have their begin
.ing in kidney trouble.
If you are sick you can make no mistake
by first doctoring your kidneys. The mild
md the extraordinary effect of Dr. Kilmer’s
Swamp-Root, the great kidney remedy is
soon realized. It stands the highest for its
wonderful cures of the most distressing cases
and is sold on its .merits PMtFT
by all druggists in fifty
cent and one-dollar siz
es. You may have a
sample bottle by mail Home or Swamp-Root,
free, also pamphlet telling you how to find
out if you have kidney or bladder trouble.
Mention this paper when writing Dr. Kilmer

Don’t make any mistake, but remember
the name, Swamp-Root, Dr. Kilmer’s
Swamp-Root, and the address, Binghamton,

The afternoon service is particularly

Important.
It has become noticeable that one
of our competitors (only one) will im
itate many things we do or say, even
to an expression “used in mere jest.”
For instance, if we put out an Irish
potato, which from long experience
we have noticed will abundantly yield
in our latitude above all others in
quantity, earliness, and flavor, then
me hear an imitation promptly from
IT, claiming the identical thing, and
j when a customer in mere jest tells us
j the potato hugs do not eat our viaes,
we find It advertising that they do
not eat his too.
But they do eat our Uride Potato
vines and it remains with him and
his customers to see if they do not
eat the Imitation ones as well.
We expect for “Bearsfoot,” “Liver-
Laxative,” and everything we do to
be imitated by IT, but for goodness
sake when the public finds out who
does misrepresent, that they will not
hold us to blame for any infringe
ments. Respectfully yours,

Here.
When an agent for an alleged Ken

This was done upon the advice of

ripened yesterday, but the agent in

A FLUSH LONG NEEDED
The fire plugs in the business dis

flushed yesterday and the accumulated

should be done often, from a sanitary
standpoint, and more particularly at
the ends of water mains, where mud
and sediment accumulates. And now
that the city authorities have begun
this much needed work of cleaning
up, it should by all means lie extend
ed to the water tower. The big
standpipe, holding the city’s water
supply, ,has not been washed out in
six months, and the bottom of the

TO KEEP AMERICUS

Board of Trade Applies to
Commission.
At the meeting of the Board of
Trade on Tuesday night the Secretary
was directed to communicate with the
Chairman of the Georgia Railroad
Commission and request that the
Board of Trade be kept posted relative
to any proposed changes of railroad
schedules affecting Americus.
This action was the result of the
reported intention of the Seaboard to
discontinue the morning train from
Helena to Columbus.
While it appears that there was
some error in the report as to this
train, it was felt by the Board of
Trade that it would be best for the
interests of Americus to keep in close
touch with the situation at Atlanta.
The directions to Sect. Pruitt were
the result. >
There is no law apparently requir
ing the Commission to notify the
cities affected by a proposed change,
although out, of courtesy the Commis
sion notified the mayors of Americus
and Albany when the Central applied
for permission to stop No. 7 at Am
ericus instead of going on to Al
bany.
There is no doubt that the request
of the Board of Trade will be honored
and that it wilf be given full notice
from Atlanta of any application which
may be filed before the commission
affecting the interests of Americus in
any way.
