A great man}- medicines used in treating Contagious Blood Poison are
composed largely of mercury and potash, and are intended to dry up or re
move the humiliating outward symptoms. But such treatment cannot cure
the disease, and its continued use will often so weaken and disease the stom
ach as to make a nervous wreck of the patient. And too, when these min
eral medicines are left oil the smoldering poison takes on new life, and soon
the old symptoms of ulcerated mouth and throat, brown, scaly splotches,
falling hair, sores and ulcers, etc., return with increased virulence. S. S. S.
cures Blood Poison by purifying the blood and keeping the
stomach and digestive members in perfect condition all the while by its fine
tonic effects. S. S. S. is a purely vegetable remedy, made entirely of roots,
herbs and barks of recognized virtue as blood purifiers. S. S. S. cures on the
principle that not only must the poison be removed from the blood, but also
the circulation must be enriched and vitalized with nourishing powers.
S. S. S. is known everywhere as the greatest of all blood purifiers and a safe,
certain cure for Contagious Blood Poison. Home treatment Book and medical
advice free. S. S. S. is for sale at drug stores.

THE GREAT WISDOM
OF OSCAR WILDE
Londoners Enjoying a Calendar Filled With
Snappy Epigrams
(London Tribune.)
London has just been enjoying a
1911 calendar which features the late
Oscar Wilde and his dynamic aphor
isms. Some of the clever excerpts in
the calendar are:
To disagree with three-fourths of
the public on all points is one of the
first elements of sanity, one of the
deepest consolations in all moments
of spiritual doubt.
As soon as people are old enough to
know better they don’t know anything
at till.
It is vulgar to talk like a dentist
when one isn’t a dentist. It creates a
false impression.
A thing is not necessarily true be
cause a man dies for it.
Young men want to be faithful and
are not; old men want to be faithless
and cannot.
All women become like their moth
ers; that’s their tragedy. No man does
and that’s his.
Each time that one loves is the only
time one has ever loved. Difference
of object does not alter singleness of
passion. It merely intensifies it.
To lose one parent may be regarded
as misfortune; to lose both looks like
carelessness.
The cook is a foolish woman who
should be turned for her inquiries
into a pillar of salt which she never
knows how to use.
The real tragedy of the poor is that
they can afford nothing hut self-de
nial.
Relations are a tedious pack of peo
ple who haven’t got. the remotest
knowledge of how to live nor the
smallest instinct about when to die.
Women treat us just as humanity
treats its gods. They worship us and
are always bothering us to do some
thing for them.

Why saved lives?
Many and many a man or woman finds the life sands run
ning low, and daily troubles show that food is not keeping the
body up to active; healthful vigor, and wonder why?
Some hidden thing retards digestion and the body doss not
receive its needed nourishment.
To such we earnestly suggest leaving off the coffee entire
ly, even the famous “only one cup in the morning.” Replace it
with good, hot Postum made as per directions on pkg. and care
fully abserve day by day the return of health and strength.
