this morning from the residence of his
brother, Mr. Albert Harris, oil Harrold

deceased and of the family are re
spectfully invited to attend. The pall

Martinsburg, W. Va„ June 11. —Sev-
eral hundred gallons of beer and li
quor were poured into the public
square by members of the Women’s
Christian Temperance union here. The
liquors were confiscated by the county
authorities at various times and were
sold at public auction by the sheriff to
the W. C. T. U. Many old topers wit
nessed the unusual sight and with evi
dent regret.

a farmer who lives near this town, re
ports that yesterday when he went out
to feed his horse, he found a 3-year
j old rattlesnake coiled in the horse-
I trough. It was just by a miracle the
farmer escaped, for he was accustom
: ed to clean out the trough before each
feed.

Leavenworth, Kas., June 11.—Fif
teen minutes after she had filed her
petition in the district court here, Mrs.
Mary Land Watson got a divorce from
Captain James T. Watson, Seventh In
fantry, United States army, whom
she charged with knocking her down
Mrs. Watson said she had only one
gown during the social season, and
had to borrow money to pay for that.
Captain Watson served in the Philip- '
pines and Cuba. He filed an entry o?
appearance, but did not contest the

from incorporating a lodge in that

ON HIGHWAY WORK
Athens, Ga., June 11. —The Georgia
Federation of Road Authorities will
meet in Athens on June 24 and 25.
There will be approximately 300 coun
ty officers who have charge of roads
heer. Clarke county commissioners
the department of roads at the Univer
sity of Georgia, the chamber of com
merce and the mayor and council will
make special efforts to entertain the
visitors. The speakers announced are
as follows:
