COTTON ON BOOM AGAIN
BIG ADVANCE ON MONDAY
Advance of Fifty Points is
Scored
The Americus cotton trade witnessed
another upheaval in the market yes
terday when, somewhat to the surprise
0
of many of them, values went aero
planing to cerulean heights again. Ail
of the loss sustained in the sharp de
cline of Friday was easily wiped
out in the advance yesterday.
In the Americus spot market buy.
ers took the best grades at prices
ranging around 12 1-2 to 12 3-4 cents.
The demand was excellent, and several
hundred bales were sold above the
12 1-2 cents mark.
The October option, which is the
active month just now, closed yester
day at 13.06 cents, a decline of five or
ten points from the high water mark
ot the day, which fact was probably
due to profit-taking of speculation. Not
a few of these twisters of the tiger s
tail in Americus were on the long side.
Receipts in Americus will be good
this week. Scores of town negroes,
including the family cook and the
wash-woman, were hauled out yester
day to the whitening fields of Sum
ter.
