MRS LANIER
ENTERTAINS
On Tuesday afternoon in her love
ly apartments on College street, Mrs.
Henry Lanier entertained for her
guest, Mrs. Adolph LeGoste, of New
York. Auction was played at four ta
bles. and the house was beautifully
decorated with palms, carnations and
narcissi. The prize, a lovely bunch
of carnations and ferns, was won by
Mrs. Joseph McCreary, of Atlanta, who
is visiting her sister, Mrs. Frank Har
rold. A dainty embroidered towel was
presented to the guest of honor.

Mrs. Taylor Lewis entertained in
formally on Monday evening for Mrs.
LaGoste, of New York, Mrs. Henry
Lanier’s guest. Flowers were banked
on the mantels, and the occasion was
a delightful one for Mrs. Lewis’
guests.
Mrs. John Holmes, of Macon, Mrs.
W. A. Dodson’s visitor, won the prize
a pack of cards. A lovely towel was
presented Mrs. LaGoste.
Those enjoying Mrs. Lewis’ hospi
tality were Mr. and Mrs. Henry La

the Matrons’ Club this afternoon at

AUCTION CLUB.
Mrs. H. B. Allen entertained with
three tables of auction on Wednesday
afternoon at her home on Taylor
street. Quantities of yellow flowers,
delightful harbingers of spring, were
used about the rooms. The prize, a
towel, was won by Mrs. Barlow Coun
cil, and handkerchiefs were given the
three visitors present, Mrs. LaGoste,
Mrs. McCreary and Mrs. Elrod.

BIRTHDAY PARTY
Miss Myrtle Poole was at home to
sixteen of her friends on Wednesday
afternoon, the occasion being in cele- j
bration of her tenth birthday. The
young hostess received many lovely
gifts and a delightful afternoon was
spent by her guests. A delicious sweet
course was served, consisting of fruit
compote, with whipped cream. The
cakes were iced in pink, and the fav
ors were Japanese bags of candy.

MISS GRIFFIN CELEBRATES
HER BIRTHDAY
Yesterday afternoon Miss Nellie
Griffin celebrated her 14th birthday at
her home on Brown street by giving a
delightful party to a large number of
her young friends. An enjovable ev
ening was spent by the happy crowd
of younger Americus and at a late
hour they left, wishing their charm
ing hostess many happy returns of
the day.
Things were enlivened with games
and contests. All entered into there
with interest and pleasure. Miss Mary
Alice Lingo was the prize winner in
the girls’ contests and Charles Lanier
was awarded the boys’ prize. After
the games refreshments were served.
Those who enjoyed the hospitality
of the Griffin home were Mary Will
Harvey, Marjorie Brown, Lon Carter,
Georgia Mayo, Erma Cannon, Lottie
Chapman, Eunice Royal, Rosa May

upon for appendicitis at the Americus
Hospital, are pleased to learn of her
rapid convalescence.

removed recently.

ter, Mildred, left today to spend some
time with relatives in Augusta and in

Dr. J. R. Statham has returned from
a business trip to Baltimore and

successful planters, is in the city to

Mr. and Mrs. Wells Bacon, of Plains,
were visitors here today, the guests of
friends.

a visitor in the city, where he arrived
this morning.

Mrs. Allie Hayes Richardson came
up this morning from Albany to par
ticipate in the exercises of her pupils
in expression at the Bell studio to
night.
