4 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY. +
I had a good intention
That in my heart took root;
By carefulness
And prayerfulness
I sought to see it fruit.
There came a ruthless critic
Who laughed it all to scorn;
He stripped it bare
And left it there,
Disheartened and forlorn.
When winter was forgotten
And then spring came fresh and green
A hundred shoots
Sprang from the roots
Where once my plant had been.
And while I mourned my failure,
The wind blew so ill
Now scattered seeds
Os golden deeds
All up and down the holl.
