ELLAVILLE, Ga., March 30.—One oi
the most pleasant of the many de
lightful events of the past few weeks
was the quarterly meeting held at An
drew Chapel last Saturday. Almost
the entire county was represented on
this auspicious occasion, and the
great crowd that gathered were rep
resentative of the best people of the
land.
At 11 o’clock, Rev. T. D. Ellis, D. D„
of Dawson, preached a powerful ser
mon. He chose for his subject
“Enoch,” a Bible character that stands
for all that is righteous. In language
clear and plain, he pointed the way to
right living and higher ideals of the
Christian religion.
At the noon hour a sumptuous din
ner was spread near the church, of
which all present heartily partook.
In the afternoon an interesting con
ference was held. The reports of Rev.
S A. Hearn, were highly commended.
The next quarterly conference will be
held at Hopewell.
Prof, and Mrs. W. G. Cutts enter
tained the faculty of Crisp Institute
at a delightful tea Tuesday evening. A
bounteous spread was enjoyed. Those
invited were Mrs. J. H. Robinson, Miss
Jessie Jameson, Miss Irma Murray,
Miss Pearl Lott.
The D. D. club were on Saturday af
ternoon delightfully entertained by
Miss Mervin Johnson at her pretty
home on lower Broad street. Miss
Johnson received her guests most gra
ciously. A delicious salad course was
served.

Strange, Miss Sara Strange, Miss Hat
tie Arrington, Miss Rosa Walker, Miss
Velma Williams, Miss Cleone Collins,
Miss Kathleen Hearn, Miss Mervin

UNVEIL MONUMENT SUNDAY
Snduay afternoon at 2 o’clock, the
Woodmen of the World, Camp No. 202,
will unveil a morfUment in memory of
the late L. B. Crawford. The exercises
will take place in Oak Grove cemetery,
where the monument has been erected
Sovereign Crawford was a charter
n.ember of the local camp and the erec
tion of this monument, which is a cus
tom of th# order, is a fitting tribute to
a most worthy man.
Exercises appropriate to the occas
ion will be observed and carried out by
the uniformed degree team of the or

Over Copyright
BERLIN, March 30. —“Why could not
the state take over all copyrights upon
their expiration—at the end of thirty
years, and thus acquire a considerable
n< w source of revenue?” asks Alfred
Schattmann, a well known German
composer, in the current number of
the Aliegemeine Musikzeitung. He
would have the state pay a reasonable
percentage of the profits to tho fmmi.-
diate heirs, so long as aany survive,
and, in proper cases, also to the pub
lisher with any vested rights. Herr
Schattmann would have the law made
retroactive, and would also apply it to
German copyrights of foreign books.
The revenue, he believes, would be
very large, and, best of all, it would be
gained with no very perceptible bur
dening of the general public. An es
pecially large income would come from
the theatres. The tax on pieces still
