Paris and Vienna Come
to America
French Market Coffee, the Old Secret
Blend, Responsible for It,
The famous restaurants of Paris and
Vienna serve a wonderful coffee,
equaled in America only by French
Market—the Old Secret Blend.
At your own grocer’s you now can i
obtain this unique blend. In former I
days it could be had only at the Old |
French Market, New Orleans. In Eu- .:
rope such coffee is served only at the
best places.
This is the self-same secret blend :
for which Henry Clay, Andrew Jack- I
son and other notables gathered at the I
Old French Market in history-making
days. The secret is still a secret. The I
grinding and roasting processes are ,
still the same. The goodness is just as ’:
remarkable.
Learn how really good French Mar
ket Coffee is, and how it agrees with
you. Send 10 cents for 12-cup sample
and booklet of the interesting Story of
Old French Market. We will also send
names of grocers in your town who
sell French Market Coffee. 1-lb. cans,

LEESBURJJN lITHi
The people of Leesburg will be
treaied to an entertainment given by
the Cracker Boys Minstrel, that Ameri
cus show which has so often played to
capacity houses in this city and towns
near by, on Thursday night, May 11th.
This company is composed wholly of
Americus talent, and has on its roll
some of the best stars of minstrelsy,
that is the amateur kind. Leonard
Tinsley, who is managing the enter
prise, is perhaps the best known figure
in amateur theatrical circles in south
west Georgia. “Kack”, as he is af
fectionately known to hundreds of
friends, is right there with the harm
ony when it comes to the rendition of
coon songs. Possessed of a big voice,
chock full of harmony, this boy will
make a good record, if he chooses to
fellow the lure of the footlights.
Leonard works at his favorite position
or. the end, and in this minstrel, for the
first time in the history of the or
ganization, his greatness has almost
been equalled in working opposite J.
B. Mathis, who cracks jokes and songs
on the other end.
The two Smiths, Welbur and Hil
liard, of local fame as first class ballad
warblers will be there in full bloom to
help, the festivities along. Critics who
have heard the splendid baritone of
Welbur Smith admit that it is good
enough to guarantee immediate success
in any theatrical troupe. The tenor
Hilliard Smith is capable of sending,
forth is excellent, indeed. There are'
others who are great—some necessar
ily greater than others, but all are
good enough to insure a first class at
traction. Among those who will make i
the trip Thursday are Leonard Tinsley,
manager and producer; J. B. Mathis,;
L D. Myers, Tom Love, Bill Moody, !
Robt. Myers, L. M. Rudich, interlocutor,
Welbur Smith and Hilliard Smith.
The minstrel will be given at the
school auditorium Thursday night, and
the theatre-goers of Leesburg certainly
have a treat in store for them.

THOMAS ADVERTISING
CARIWfiSEHERE
Thomas county believes in the virtue
of advertising. To this end she has
I sent out a car this week on a tour
lof the state, talking up her resources
'and distributing literature, telling of
| the many advantages in being a citi
zen of Thomas.
The car started out from Boston
Tuesday morning under the auspices
of the Boston Chamber of Commerce,
and is accompanied by J. H. Balkom,
E D. Mcßae, R. B. Mcßae and C. R.
Mcßae, all of Boston. They were in
Americus late Tuesday afternoon, and
were welcome callers at the Times-
Recorder office. They were very
enthusiastic ever the first leg of the
journey and confident of the ultimate
good to come of same.
From here the party proceeded to
Columbus by the way of Buena Vista.
From Columbus they will continue on
up the western side of the state on
into Atlanta, to Cedartown. Rome, Dal
ton and across the northern tier and
I thence down the eastern slope and
I back home.
I Thomas county is, indeed, showing
: a commendable spirit and the proper >
j grasp upon publicity, and we congrat-'
! uiate them upon their sagacity and
■ enterprise, but we would gently remind
I them that while Thomas county may
be a good county in which to live,
Burnt* r county is better.
Atlanta Men’To ~
Go The Limit
If They Hold
ATLANTA, Ga., May 10.—If Atlanta:
men expect to live up to their reputa
tion of being the best dressed men
outside of New York, upon which rep
utation they greatly pride themselves,
just as Atlanta women claim the dis
tinction of being as fashionably garb
ed as any in the country.
If Atlanta men expect to sustain
their reputation, they must get ready
to wear the romantic costumes of the
period of 1830, which have just been
decreed by Parsian fashion-makers to
be the coming styles for men, and
which Atlanta tailors are getting
ready to introduce to the trade.
“Easy and graceful, yet sober and l
elegant, and virile above all things,”
is the way one of them describes the
new styles.
The coat runs to frockish, he goes
on to say, and had wide and long lap
els with conspicuous points. The
waist fits tight like a woman’s corsets,
while the skirts of the coat are
draped. Trousers are large at the
top and small at the bottom. Acces
eries must be right to complete the
I costume, one of these being a wide
hat with a rolling brim.
Will Atlanta wear the 1830 suit?
Will Americans wear it?
Atlanta tailors believe they will;
and believe, furthermore, that they’ll
1 like it.

ANOTHER DOCTOR FAILS
TO KILL WITH ARSENIC
ATLANT, Ga., May 10. —Taking his
cue from the experiments conducted
by Dr. W. Jay Bell, an Atlanta physic
ian, under the observation of the
Georgia state veterinarian and the
Georgia state prison commission
members, another Georgia physician
has administered large doses of
ursenic to a dog and proven at least
■ to his ov.n personal and professional
satisfaction that arsenic is not a
poison so far as the canine tribe is 1
concerned.
The latest to try the experiment is
Dr. C. A. Harris, of The Rock, Ga.,
who gave a dog daily doses in increas
ing quantity without any harmful ef
fect whatever on the dog.
The first day he gave the dog one- -
fourth of a grain of arsenic; the sec
ond day one half of a grain; the third'
day one grain; the fourth day tvo
grains; the fifth day four grains; the
I sixth day eight grains, the seventh day
r-l.'.tcen grains; the eighth day tr.lrty
two grains.
“I am convinced,” declared Dr.
Harris after finishing the experiment,
“that the only way to kill a dog wi:h
I arsenic is to give him so m'l .'h that
you choke him to death.”
