O. W. Pittman, and family have re
cently moved to Americus from Way
cross and have leased the Sam Heys
residence on Lee street, near the
Catholic church.
Jeff A. Taylor came over from his
Marion county farm to spend a few
hours in the city. He looks prosper
ous as ever and says he is going to
make a good crop this year.
B. L. Wood, a prominent Lumpkin
citizen ,was in the city Friday on busi
ness.

Misses Mary Lizzie Forrester, Annie i
Laurie Bunkley and Bertha Cannon
were three attractive young ladies
from Leesburg who came up Friday to
attend Miss Mary Hawkes' musical
recital Friday evening.
G. B. Graham, representing the G. C.
Hanford Mfg. Co., is at home for a day
or so with his family here. Mr. Gra
ham is traveling north and northeast
Georgia now, and reports a nice busi
ness. He begins traveling in a Ford
next week, and leaves for his unfin
ished territory in north Georgia, hav
ing been provided with an automobile
by his company.

Mrs. Howell Simmons returned Fri
day from a short visti to Atlanta.
Miss Ruth McArthur returned Sat
urday from Milledgeville, where she is
a student at the Gergia Normal and
Industrial College. Miss McArthur
will remain in Americus throughout
the summer, the guest of her mother,
Mrs. J. 0. McArthur, at her home ou
Lee street.

Jolt® Upton, of Buena Vista, former
ly a resident of Sumter county, but
now a prominent planter of Marion
county, was a business visitor in Amer
icus Saturday. This was the first
trip Mr. Upton has made to his old
home in two decades.
Gene Doughtie, of Eufaula, Ala., is
a visitor in Americus, and is stopping
at the Windsor.
A. E. Fuller, of Shiloh, an Emory
student, is in Americus, the guest of
his college mate, Eugene Cato.

Alfred D. Sautels, southern repre
sentative of the Fisher Sub Casing Co..
is a visitor in the city, and while here
only a short time has made many
friends. Mr. Sautels is looking after
the interests of his firm in South Geor
gia for about two weeks, and is sav
ing the motorist of the south much

Miss Genevieve Wheeler, bookkeeper
of the Hooks’ Pharmacy, who is ill at
the hospital, continues to improve, and

H. A. Harris came up from (his Lee
county plantation Saturday to mingle
a few hours with his friends here. Mr.
Harris formerly lived in Americus and
Ihe is always a welcome visitor to
his old home.
E. R. Doughtie, of New Orleans, is
a visitor in the city.
Mrs. Roger Flippin is the guest of
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Snell. Mrs. Flip
pin will return to her home in Ash
burn shortly.

Americus Saturday, shaking hands
with his acquaintances and making

was in the city Saturday.
W. A. Webb, of Sumter, was in the
city Saturday. He reports fine grow
ing crops in his section.
Mrs. W. D. Sears, of Ellaville, passed
through Americus yesterday en route
to Milledgeville, where she goes to at
tend the graduation exercises of the
IG. N. and I. C. Her daughter, Miss
I Ruth Sears, will be one of the grad
| uates, and will accompany her mother
home next Wednesday.

Lottie, Edna and J. R. Livingston, are
spending the week-end in Ellaville, the

Harry Williams, a traveling man of
Americus, arrived Saturday for a short
visit with homefolks.
Reports from the bedside of Willie
Williams, who has been ill for several
days, are most favorable. His many
friends hope to see him at his post of
duty in a few days.
Mrs. C. P. Payne, Misses Geraldine
and Mitch Payne and Charles Payne,
will leave in a short while for Pablo
Beach, Fla., for a vacation of a month.
Merrill Wheatley leaves Sunday
night for Lyons, Ga., where he will be
with the Grand Opera House.
