PINCHOT’S ADDRESS HAS
STIRRED PATRIOTIC ATLANTA
ATLANTA, Ga., May 4.—Gifford Pin
chot’s visit to Atlanta, where he has
made several addresses on the neces
sity for increased food crop production,
coupled with the alarming reports of
the increasing tonnage destroyed by
German submarines, has stirred the
people of this city to a realization of
the seriousness of the situation, and
Atlanta business men, bankers and
commercial bodies are bending every
effort in co-operation with the various
agfncies working for greater food pro
duction in the South.

When the V. S. Junior Naval Reserve
opened new headquarters at 231 West ,
Fifty-eighth St. the boys who are be
ing trained in merchant marine and
, naval affairs, wanted a telephone num
: her of some significance, so they asked
for one in memory of the first seaman
,to come to this country. Their re
quest was quickly granted.
Next, the boys wanted an office boy
■ with a patriotic name, and advertised
i for one. They got him. too. He’s
i George Dewey West. Dressed as an
■ admiral, he is now distributing public
ity to visitors.

MACON MINISTER SUSPENDED
AFTER CONVICTION OF SERIOUS
CHARGES »Y PRESBYTERY
MACON, Ga., May 4.—At the ad
journed meeting of the Presbytery,
charges brought at the meeting held at
Sylvester. April 17, against Rev. Per
, rival Campbell Morgan, sone of the
distinguished minister of London, En
gland, were investigated further at a
trial held at the First Presbyterianu
church here. Dishonesty, falsehood
{and conduct unbecoming a minister
was the indictment. The young minis
ter was found guilty on all but one of
the counts, the first.
I Rev. Morgan was present at the trial
and made, a short talk in his own de-
. sense. However, upon a vote of the
presbytery, he was sentenced to indefl-
• nite suspension from the ministry,
I! which means that he shall forfeit all
I the rights of officially performing any
i ceremony of the ministry, such as the
. marriage ceremony, administering the
sacrament, or pronouncing the bene-
> diction. The mitigating provision of
> this sentence is that if the young min
t ister should prove due repentance of
f the acts which have brought it upon
. him, and retrieves himself of his errors
t the presbytery will immediately re-
> move the suspension.
