this week for Miss Mattie B. McMath
whose marriage occurs on the four
teenth. Miss Cordelia Gatewood’s
party on Saturday was a lovely complL
ment to Miss McMath, and tomorrow
afternoon Miss Genevieve Prather will
entertain for her. On Wednesday
morning Miss Bess McLeod will give
a party in her honor and in the af
ternoon Miss McMath will be in the re
ceiving line at Miss Emma Mae Bo
rum’s reception. Thursday afternoon
Miss Anna Murray will honor her with

Civil Service Examination.
The U. S. Civil Service Commission
will hold an examination for clerks
and carriers on March 23, 1918, at
Americus, Georgia, to fill vacancies in
in the postoffice of that city. The ex

Amato’s Wife in Jerusalem.
ATLANTA, Ga., March 4.—-Abraham
Amato, proprietor of a little shoe re
pair store on Capitol avenue, near the
statehouse, in this city, and cousin of
Pasquale Amato, the famous opera
singer, has just received a letter from
his wife in Jerusalem, whom he has
not seen for three years, joyfully an
nouncing the capture of that city by
the British troops, and the fact that
she and the two little children are safe
