APPEALS TO SOUTH
j
“I particularly appeal to the farmers of the South to plant
abundant foodstuffs as well as cotton. They can show their
patriotism in no better or more convincing way than by resist
ing the great temptation of the present price of cotton and help
upon a great scale, to feed the Nation and the peoples every
where who are figfhting for their liberties and for our own. The
variety of their crops will be the visible measure of their com
prehension of their national duty."

THANKS RED CROSS
The local chapter of the Red Cross

ter from the young linen of the 50st

Souther Field,’ thanking them for
sandwiches sent them last week. The

To The American Red Cross, Ameri

The boys of the 501st wish to thank

been asking for exactly that less than
a half hour before.
We all very much appreciate your
kindness and cordiality toward us
since our arrival and trust that our
all too short stay will prove as pleas
ant to the residents of Americus as it
has to the boys of the 501st. Sin
cerely H. W. HARRIGAN,
