WANTS EX-KAISER
TRIED B[ COURT
WASHINGTON, Nov. 27—Convene
an international court to try the ex
kaiser for his crimes against the
world.
That’s the latest suggestion in
Washington official circles, in answer
to the question every man, woman and
child is asking: “What shall we do
with Bill Hohenzollern ”
It was first advanced by Senator
Miles Poindexter, of Washington, in
an interview.
Senator Poindexter, who was a Spo
kane lawyer and district judge be
fore his election to congress, is an
authority on international law. Here
is what he says:
“The great powers united for the
purpose of defining international law
as the code of honor of nations.
Certainly the nations which created
international laws have the power to
enforce them.
“Why should they not now estab
lish an international court, separate
from the peace congress or the allied
war council, or any organization that
may come out of the league of na
tions, for the sole purpose of placing
the ex-kaiser on trial and sentencing
him to his just deserts?
“He has certainly been guilty of
violations of all the laws of civilized
warfare, written and unwritten, and
of all the-international laws covering
the land, the sea and the air. Some
of the crimes of which he stands ac
cused are:
The Kaiser’s Crimes.
“'The destruction of private prop
erty, by whole cities.
“The wanton murder of non-com
batants on land
‘ The murder of innocent women
ami babies at sea.
“The killing of civilians and de
struction of property by air raids on
non-defended cities.
“The murder of Edith Cavell aid
Captain Fryatt. Sjgjl
"The sinking of the Lusitania.
“The flagrant violations of Ameri
can rights which forced the United
States into the war.
“The introduction of poison gases
and other uncivilized weapons.
“There are many other offenses
for which he should be indicted and
i i ought to trial Holland would
vive him up readily in such an eve it;
she doesn’t want him anyway, and
would be orb- too glad to have some
body take him off her hands.
“An international tribunal of -this
character, composed of the best in
ternational and criminal lawyers of
the world, could be depended on to
mete out just punishment to the
man who brough four years and a
half of horror on the world.”
Another new possibility was Sug
gested by a professor psychology. His
contention is that Wilhelm the
Damned’s conscience will provide far
more just punisment for him than
any fate that can be forced on nim
by extreme measures.

before a court which would be in
continuous session for a year of more.
Each day during this period “Count”
Eolienzo’.lern would be placed on toe
stand, to be cross-examined on his
crimes.
He would be tried in a large number
of counts, and each indictment would
go thoroughly into the history of some
one of his crimes. Thus, all his hein
ous offenses would parade themselves
constantly before his mental vision.
He would be permitted to think cf
nothing else. His sleep w r ould be
troubled by visions of the victims of
his brutal submarines shrieking male
dictions on his head.
Nothing in the most creeping of
Edgar Allen Poe’s horror tales could
equal the mental torment of William
Hohenzollern under such a vigorous
campaign to break down his morale.
But the chief objection to the plan
is that it would probably make of
him a raving maniac—and maniacs
are not capable of suffering.
Still another suggestion heard here
ii- that of a court-martial headed by
Marshal to try the ex-kaise r on
the battle field for his crimes.
But again the objection is heard
that a court-martial would in all prob
ability order him “shot at sunrise”
and everyone agrees that shooting is
too good for Bill Hohenzollern.
HOW TO FIGHT
SPANISH INFLUENZA
BY DR. L. w. BOWERS.
Avoid crowds, cohghs and cowards,
but fear neither germs nor Germans I
Keep the system in good order, take
plenty of exercise in the fresh air and
practice cleanliness. Remember a clean
mouth, a clean skin, and clean bowels
are a protecting armour against disease.
To keep the liver and bowels regular
and to carry away the poisons within,
it is best to take a vegetable pill every
other day, made up of May-apple, aloes,
jalap, and sugar-coated, to be bud at
most drug stores, known as Dr. Pierce’s
Pleasant Pellets. If there is a sudden
onset of what appears like a hard cold,
one should go to bed, wrap s warm, take
a hot mustard foot-bath and drink copi
ously of hot lemonade. If pain develops
in head or back, ask the druggist for
Anuric (anti-uric ) tablets. These will
flush the bladder and kidneys and carry
off poisonous germs. To control the
pains and aches take one Anuric tablet
every two hours, with frequent drinks of
lemonade. The pneumonia appears in
a most treacherous way, W’hen the influ
enza victim is apparently recovering and
anxious to leave his bed. In recovering
from a bad attack of influenza or pneu
monia the system should be built up
with a good herbal tonic, such as Dr.
Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery, made
without alcohol from the roots and barks
if American forest trees, or his Irontic
(iron tonic) tablets, which can be ob
tained at most drug stores, or send 10c.
to Dr. Pi 'i’ce’s Invalids’ Hotel, Buffalo.
