Mathis-Murphy.
One of the most interesting wed
dings of the season took place yes
terday at noon when Miss Theodosia
Mathis was married to Leßoy Murphy,
of Charleston, at the home of the
bride’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. Evan T.
Mathis. The house was elaborately
decorated with Southern smilax and
yellow daffodills, except in the draw
ing room where green and white pre
vailed. Baskets of white carnations
and ferns were used on the tall ped
estals between which the bride and
groom stood and the same lovely flow
ers decorated the mantels and piano.
Mrs. J. E. Mathis and Mrs. H. B. Mash
burn assisted in receiving the guests
who were entertained before the cere
mony by Sergeant Roy Cochran, of
Philadelphia, who possesses a beauti
ful voice.
The bride descended the stairs to
the strains of Mendelssohn’s wedding
march, played by Miss Lula Mathis,
and was joined by the groom in the
hall. Without attendants they enter
ed the drawing room, where the Rev.
George F. Brown read the impressive
ceremony and pronounced them man 1
and wife.
The bride wore a charming gown of i
turquoise georgette, with a pink
georgette hat and her flowers were '
bride’s roses and valley lilies. Mrs. •
E. T. Mathis, mother of the bride, was
gowned in grey crepe de chine, with '
which she wore a corsage of pale pink 1
rosebuds. The groom’s mother, Mrs.
Murphy, wore grey charmeuse with
a corsage of palma violets. Miss Lu
cille Murphy was lovely in a gown of
pale pink crepe and Miss Linda Ma
this wore a gown of blue crepe de
chine. Miss Lula Mathis was charm
ing in a dainty dress of white geor
gette. ) A delicious buffet luncheon
was served by Mary Frances and Lucy
