SANCTUARY OF
FORMER KAISER
REALLY PRISON
' I
AMERONGEN, NETHERLANDS,
(Correspondence of The Associated
Press.) —There was excitement and
alarm at the Bentick castle today
when the mail brought two violently
worded threatening letters to the for
mer German Emperor William and,
almost simultaneously a telegram
was received warning him of an at
tempt to be made on his life.
The sixteen armed military police
men provided by the Dutch govern
were quickly mustered. Those off
diuty were roused from their sleep
carbines. This watch was continued
throughout the night, much to the dis
comfort of the Dutch gendarmes who
would be delighted to learn that Herr
Hohenzollern had decided to seek
shelter in another land.
Despite all the precautions taken to
guard him, it is evident that there is
frequent if not constant apprehension
that some person might yet obtain
entrance to the grounds of the castle
by stealth or subterfuge and attack
the former emperor.
To ward off such a possibility, the
steward of the estate has been given
the daily task of making a thorough
search while ruler sets his foot therein
on his daily journey to hte woodshed.
The sanctuary of William II has
become a prison without being called j
by that name and within its walls he
spends much of his time in an effort
to avoid comparison of his present
position with his ofrmer greatness.
There seems to be small chance
that he will seek another refugia
When he came to Holland he, un
doubtedly. harbored the belief that his
sojourn would be brief and' tha this
former subjects soon would r/ecall
him but thus far no whisper has come
for him to return. He seems not to
be wanted in Germany but the Hol
landers are now hoping for his speedy
departure as they are beginning to
feel that his presence here is having
a bad effect on their relations with
the rest of the world.
Arrangements are being made at
Count Bentinck’s castle for the con
tinued sojourn of the German guest.
Wheather the Entente nations will
intervene and disturb the plans can
not be forseen.

Savings in South
Show Great Gains
[ATLANTA, April 24. The South
has increased its per capita savings
45 per cent, during the last four
years, according to figures which,
have just been compiled in Atlanta.
’ An interesting feature of the report
is the comparative statement show-
1 ing that the Southern States, which
for so long have meekly borne asper
sions of improvidence and wasteful
ness, have increased their savings in
’ four yaers just four times as much
1 per capita as some of the larger east
ern and New England states.
The figures given show, however,
' that Georgia and other Southern
states wall have to speed up in its
war savings stamp investments if it
’ wants to rank along With other sec
l tions and states, as all other states
in the East and West and North ex-
1 ceed the south in per capita war sav
ing stamp purchases.
‘ Ivan E. Allen, state director of the
War Saving Organization, and Walter
’ G. Cooper, vice director, are confident,
1 however, that the state of Georgia
1 will materially increase its per capita
1 stamp purchases within the next six
! months, as the new plan of educa
cational instruction and tfije improv
ed facilities for securing the stamps
1 will make it easier for the people to
buy, not to mention the desire of the
state to show its patriotism and re
deem its pledges for the purchase of
War Savings Stamps.
“FRIEND LOANED
ME SOME DRECO!
NOW I AM WELL
Athens Ga. lady declares her kidney
• trouble was pronounced incurable.
Had bowel trouble and disordered
stomach. In good health now.
“You ask me how I came to use
Dreco, well all my friends were tak
ing it and one of them’who had
bought six bottles loaned me two,”
said Mrs. Mary Watson, of 328 Oconee
Street, Athens, Ga., while talking to
Dr. Tharp, the Dreco expert, at Pal
mer & Sons Drug Store.
“And now I want to buy six bottles
myself, I am going to send two of
them to my sister who is in poor
health. It is simply wonderful how
’ I can sleep and do my work, and my
i kidney trouble that was said to be in
. curable is gone entirely, My bowels
■ are acting regularly and my stomach
is in good condition. I feel entirely
changed.
“I want to say to my friends at
Athens and vicinity that if they want
to get well: if they want to get rid
of the backache, the kidney disease,
the bloated stomach and constipated
bowels; that horrible nervous depres
sion with fluttering heart; my advice
is to take Dreco. It has done all this
for me and will do it for them. It
will put a sparkle in their eyes and
roses in their cheeks.”
Dreco, the herbal remedy that did
so much for this good lady, is a vege
table remedy containing no iron, mer
| cury, potash, nor any acids or oils.
| It acts on the stomach to assist it
to digest the food. Rouses a slug
gish liver to action; strengthens the
kidneys, quiets the nervest induces
sound sleep; expells catarrh of the
nose and stomach and rebuilds a run
down system.
All good druggists throughout the
country now sell Dreco and it is high-,
