Dance at Bell Studio.
The dance which was given at the
Bell Studio last night by the new
dancing club which was organized re
cently was largely attended and a
most enjoyable occasion. Among the

Mrs. J. D. Hooks entertained her
bridge club delightfully this after
noon at her home on Lee street. Sweet
peas and hydrangeas formed the
charming decorations and the top
score prize was a wicker hanging

Miss Emma Love Fisher returned
this afternoon from Wesleyan college,
to spend the summer vacation. Miss
Fisher was recently elected vice presi
dent of the Wesleyan Glee club, of
which she has been a prominent and
popular member for the past year.

INPROCLAMATION
ATLANTA, June «. Governor
Hugh M. Dorsey of Georgia, has is
sued the following proclamation, in
dorsing the Boy Scout movement, and
calling upon the people of Georgia to
co-operate with the organization in its
plan for additional membership the
week of June 8 to June 14.
‘ Recognizing the magnificent work
which the Boy Scouts of America did
in the recent war, and
'Believing that, because of it’s
wholesome and uplifting influence up
on the boyhood of our state and na
tion, it is an organization which
should not only be pressed but
strengthened, and
‘ Realizing that only a small propor
tion of the 200,000 Georgia boys which
should belong to this organization are
enrolled.

all Georgians and Americans to sup
ply the means to put the Boy Scouts
of America in a position to carry cn
effectively the work which they have
beeun for the youth of America,

Dargan Heads Drive

ATLANTA, June 4. —At a luncheon
here today. Milton Dargan, prominent
throughout the South as an insurance
man, took charge of the campaign to
raise a million dollar endowment for
the University of the South at Sewa
nee in so far as this diocese of the
Episcopal church is concerned, vyith. a
quota of $75,000. Bishop JCikell
presided and addresses were nude by
Bishop Gailor, of Tennessee, and Col.
Luke Lea, ex-United States senator
from Tennessee. A strong executive
committee was named and plans per
fected by which it is expected tt» al
lotment will be easily secured in ihort
order. Sewanee belongs to the Epsco
pal church in thirteen Southern sates
and this campaign is being condwted
throughout that territory. Report of
the most encouraging character lave
been received indicating that ther is
no doubt of the successful outcome of
the movement. At present one-ttrd

cash and pledges and with the prelim
inary work that has been done the re.
