WAGE AND RATE
RAILWAY BRAND
WASHINGTON, September 4. —
(By Associated Press.) —The estab
lishment of a governmental commis
sion or board, with powers to fix
both railroad wage scales and trans
portation rates was advocated in a
senate address today by Senator Os
car Underwood, of Alabama.
Senator Underwood didn't disclose
■whether he favored the interstate
commerce commission as the propos
ed tribunal, but declared it to be
clearly within the rights of congress
to create an agency to determine the
wages as well as rates.
“Men will not strike against just
decision of the government,’’ he de
clared. “After a fair determina
tion of the controversy by an impar
tial tribunal, public sentiment will
force the contending parties to ac
cept the verdict rendered as final..”

Another “freak record”” has been set by an aviator. Landing on rooftops and other stunts cre

was the one through which he passed.
