QUILLY’S PLAN TO MAKE UP.
QUILLY Porcupine hadn’t been liv
ing in his new gray house very
long. In fact, he moved in be
cause it was larger than his house
in the hollow tree and he wanted to
have room for his cousin, Al
phonse, the white porcupine.
He felt very badly because ne bad
hurt one of his best friends, Jim
mie Coon, and as he sat at home in
his house he asked the white porcu
pine, his cousin, what he could do to
make it right with Jimmie Coon.
“Now if I coould only make it up
with Jimmie Coon and do something
at the same time to make it pleasant,
then that would ‘klil two birds with
one stone.’ I would like to have all
the little people of the Great Forest
know that I have nothing against Jim
mie Coon and that I didn’t want to
hurt him.”
“Well, you had better ask some
one who knows what Jimmie Coon
likes best and then do that.”
“Just the very thing. I’ll ask Chat
terbox. He goes around everywhere
and he knows what’s what and who’s
who and we will see what he says.”
Cliatterbox was really flattered
that such a reserved person as Quilly
should ask him what to do. He
thought it was a great compliment.
Chatterbox having been invited sat
in the door of Quilly’s new house

“Stem right th?re! You must have

you can get some from the Jones’

Quilly sighed, for that meant a

Basket Social Feature of Film.
The romance, jooys and sorrows
of a small town basket social form
an interesting incident in Thomas H.
Ince’s latest Charles Ray Paramount
picture, “The Busher,” which will be
seen at the Alcazar Theater Saturday.
There is one decided novelty in this
basket social, however, in the method
adopted of disposing of the lunches
to bidders. On the stage of the town
hall a big white sheet is stretched
"ith a string behind it. As each bas
ket is offered for sale, the owner
steps between the light and the sheet
and the bidders get a silhouette of the
young lady.
Charles Ray, as Ben Harding, sets
out to buy the basket of Maggie Pal
mer, and she has told him in advance
she will wear a big ribbon in her
hair. The old maid of the commun
ity. smitten with Ben, gets an inkl
ing of the design and arranges her
hair ribbon in the same way. Ben
bids his last nickel good-bye, all the
money he has saved for a new base
ball mit and wins the lemon instead
of his sweetheart. Maggie is then
carired off by Ben’s bitter rival.
remarkable photography was
secured of this big gathering with the
counterlights throwing shadows on
the screen. The picture was directed
by Jerome Storm, under the super
vision of Thomas H. Ince. Colleen
Moore plays the part of Maggie, and
others in the cast include Jack Gil
bert, Jay Morley and Otto Hoffman.
