A MESSAGE FROM
THE STATE PRESIDENT.
The following from the Atlanta
Constitution’s U. D. C. column will
be read with interest by the U. D. C.
members of the city and Mrs. Har

“I deeply appreciate the high hon

only great pleasure, but the keenest
satisfaction to know that you are
willing to trust the future useful
ness and service of our organization
in my hands, .
“Efficiency in our-U. D. C. work
demands co-operation—co-operation,
not alone between women of differ

over the state, any my first message
to yoU as president is an earnest ap

“Remember, too, that true loyalty
demands that Daughters of the Con

other. Nothing spurs us to greater
endeavor than the fact that those
whom we esteem think well of us.
“Loyalty to official duty should
characterize each member of our offi

we turn all our God-given strength
away from destructive and criticizing
action and consecrate it to construc
tive work.
“It is essential that we band to
gether to honor our Confederate an
cestry and to strengthen the spirit
of a reunited country. Remember
ing our crganization’s special pur
pose of work in patriotism and an
abiding interest in the welfare of
America as a great nation, let us
work with greater zeal than ever
before to keep Georgia in the front
rank of workers for the many noble
enterprises of the United Daughters
of Confederacy. More than ever,
perhaps, we must feel the necessity
of keeping before us the ideas of
truth, of justice, of duty.
“Daughters, I thank you for con

PRETTY HOME WEDDING
SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
One of the prettiest home wed
dings of the fall season took place
Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the
home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. H. Lester, near Americus,
when Miss Reba Lester and Robert
Earl Castleberry were united by the
Rev. George F. Brown, pastor of
Central Baptist church.
The decorations were autumn flow
ers gracefully arranged in the rooms
open to guests, and simplicity mark
ed the occasion throughout. The
groom entered the living room with
his best man, Amery Bone, and met
the bride at the improvised altar at
tended by Mrs. Amery Bone as ma
tron of honor. The bride was a
charming figure in a dress of mid
night blue charmeuse with a small
black hat with touches of blue, while
the matron of honor wore a close
fitting serge model of dark material
with hat and accessories to match.
The wedding party was entertain
ed in the evening with a buffet sup
per at the home of the groom’s par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Castle
berry, where the young couple will
make their home for the present.
Note worthy among the numerous
gifts received was a chest of silver
presented by the officers stationed at
Souther Field.
