McCormack
This is a lovedyric of unusual quality, and no one less a poet of
the heart than McCormack could express as he does the strange yearn
. ing, the tenderness and lyric ecstasy of this wonderful song.

Rubber Goods
In the purchase of Rubber Goods, if you are to get 100
cents for your dollar, see that the stock is FRESH—NEW
You would not buy an old box of candies, nor old butter.
It is just as essential that your Rubber Goods be fresh, for
Rubber deteriorates with age. An old Hot Water Bag, laid
one side for a long time, is bound to crack, to weaken in the
♦
seams. Rubber rots easily.
Our stock is new; it is purchased from those manufacturers
who have the reputation of making only the very best that
can be made. Satisfaction goes with every

West Indies Want No
Annexation To U. S.
BRIDGETOWN, Jan.
13.—Lord Rothermere’s suggestion
that Great Britain sell to the United
States, British Honduras, Bahama Is
lands, Bermuda, British Guiana and
the West India Islands, with the ex
ception of Jamaica, to pay for Brit
ain's war debts has provoked a storm ,
of protest in all these colonies. The
idea has been denounced by most of ,
the newspapers of the British West j
India Islands, in British Guiana, Trin- .
idad, the Leeward Islands and Ja
maica. Public meeting and legisla- (
tive councils have also denounced the j
project. ;
In some quarters it is suggested ]
that the idea was put forward to scare <
the West Indies into accepting an- ,
nexation to the Dominion of Canada. t
Suggestions made by Canadian visit- i
ors to Barbados that the Canadian
gbvernment was willing to receive <
overtures from the West Indies look- •
ing to commercial annexation were i
received coldly here. One reason for ]
opposing the Canadian suggestion is
that the West Indies did nob wish to ;
subject themselves to the Canadian :
tariffs which it is felt here would <
tend to exclude American foodstuffs. 1
The West Indian ideal ,is to have
at some future time a West Indian
dominion embracing all the Atlantic
and Carribean possessions of Great
Britain.

THE KING FOLLOWS SNOOPY.
’TINKER 808 saw Snoopy the Bob
4 Cat bounding through the for
est just at the close of day. He
knew that Mr. Weasel must be caus
ing some trouble and hurriedly fol
lowed Snoopy on his way. When
the Bob Cat arrived on the scene, I
he heard Mr. Weasel coaxing Snow
Shoe the Rabbit to come closer to
him that he might examine his fur. i
Shoopy hesitated a moment to see I
whether Snow' Shoe would fall into
the confidence of the treacherous
Weasel.
“I am close enough,” said Snow
Shoe. “If you want to know more
about my fur you will have to see
my brother. It may be that he will j
let you closer to him.”
“I am harmless and could not hurt
a big fellow like you,” as Mr. Wea
sel spoke to j>now Shoe, he crept
closer and closer. When he thought
he was within jumping distance, he

sprang at Snow Shoe, hoping to
clutch him by the throat. But the
great Rabbit of the North was not
there.
I “I knew that was your trick,” said
Snow Shoe, as he bounded a few
yards away.
“Oh, I just wanted to see if you
were afraid of me," Mr. Weasel in
sisted. “I wouldn’t do you any harm
nor any one else. Let us walk to
gether to the river for a drink. That
club-footed Muskrat has broken a
hole in the ice and it will be a good
drinking place.”
“I really do not care for a drink,
Mr. Weasel, and if I did I would
eat a little snow .and would not have
to go to the river.”
“You make me mad,” said Mr.
Wearel. “If I get hold of you, I’ll
choke you to death and drink every
drop of blood in 'your body.’’
Tinker Bob came along just as
Mr. Weasel was making this terrible
statement. “So this is the way you
act when you meet the forest dwel
lers, is it?” asked Tinker Bob.
Mr. Weasel was not expecting to
see the King of the Forest and did
not know what to say. “Mr. Snow
Shoe, where are you living now?"
asked the King.
“Oh, I came down from the moun
tain top when the snow came and I
have been dwelling here in the midst
of the forest ever since.”
When the King spoke to Snow
Shoe, Mr. Weasel tried to slip away
unheard, but Snoopy the Bob Cat
handed him a cuff from that same

plains Efficacy of 101 Tonic, 1
There are thrze important ingre

each one of which has an important
' duty. They are Quinine, Iron and

cumulated poisons.
This combination Is of ’ jiown worth
for the treatment of Golds, LaGrippe,
Fever, Chills, Influenza and Malaria.
During last year’s influenza epi
demic the sales of 101 Tonic increas
ed over 500 per cent. This is proof
a-plenty of the value of this rem
edy for the t °atment of “flu”. At
