Acts On The Liver,
Regulates Kidneys,
Purifies the Blood
The liver is the largest and most
important organ in the body, and
when the liver refuses to act, it causes
constipation, biliousness, headaches,
indigestion, gas, sour -stomach, bad
breath, dysentery, diarrhoea, pains in
back and under ribs on right side.
These symptoms lead to colds, influ
enza or other serious troubles, unless
corrected immediately.
An inactive liver places an extra
burden on the kidneys which over
taxes them and causes the blood to
absorb and carry into the system the
impurities that the liver and kidneys
have failed to eliminate.
When you treat the liver alone, you
treat only a third of your trouble,
and that is why you have to take pur
gatives every few nights. Calomel
or other ordinary.laxatives do not go
far enough. If you would treat your
kidneys and blood while treating the
liver you would put your entire sys
tem in order and frequent purgatives
would then be unnecessary.
Dr. W. L. Hitchcock many years
ago recognized these important facts
and after much study and research,
compounded what is now known as
Dr. Hitchcock’s Liver, Kidney and
Blood Powders, three medicines com
bined in one. This was the doctor’s
favorite prescription for many years,
being used by his patients with mark
ed success. It is a harmless vegeta
ble remedy that will not make you
sick, and you may eat anything you
like while taking it.
Get a large tin box from your
druggist or dealer for 25c, under his
personal guarantee that it will give
relief, tone up the liver, stimulate
the kidneys to healthy action and
thereby purify the blood. Keep it
in the home for ready use whenever
, any member of the family begins to
i feel “out of sorts.” It will prove a
i household friend and valuable
remedy. a( l y

THE FRANKLIN CAR
Gasoline Saving Expressed in Terms
of Tires and Depreciation
There’s a reason why experienced motorists are keeping
close track of their gasoline tank refills. They have learned
that gasoline consumption truthfully indicates the wear and
tear that goes on all over the car: tires, engine, chassis.
It is significant that the Franklin Car gives
20 miles to the gallon of gasoline
12,500 miles to the set of tires
50$° slower yearly depreciation
Such all-round economy is only one advantage due to
Franklin light weight and flexibility. Others are: excep
tional ability to hold the road, freedom from dangerous side
slipping on turns, consequently greater ease of handling and
greater driving confidence, and naturally a measure of riding
comfort unobtainable from rigid, heavy cars.
And Franklin performance and economy are made
doubly valuable by direct Air Cooling (no water to boil
or freeze) which enables Franklin owners to motor reliably
the year-round.
\\ e are ready to demonstrate the unusual capabilities
of the Franklin Car at any time and over any roads you
may suggest.

We would like to place the Franklin Contract in Americus with a good

REJECTED 81 MARINES
8810 MN TAKES TANLAC
AND 15 THEN ACCEPTED
Lester Curtin, of Toledo, Tells of
His Efforts to Enlist Which Fi
nally Were Successful.
HE LOOKED AND FELT
LIKE DIFFERENT MAN
“Tanlac Was My Friend in Need
and Can be Depended on” He
States—Was Twice Wounded
in Battle.
“Tanlac has been “Friends in Need’
to me and I will always have a good
word for it,” said Lester Curtin, 127
Superior street, Toledo, Ohio, while
discussing the medicine a few days
ago. Mr. Curtin served with the Ma
rines "in France and has two wounds,
one on the arm and one in the leg, re
ceived while in the fighting over
there.
“I can say with all sincerity,” he
added, “that Tanlac is a wonderful
medicine, for I took six or seven bot
tles in 1917 and it put me right on my
feet after I had suffered for more
than two years with a case of stom
ach trouble that it seemed like noth
ing could relieve. My stomach would
bloat up so with sour gas and hurt
me so bad at times I Couldn’t even
stand to wear a belt. I was in such
a miserable* rundown condition when
I commenced taking Tanlac that I
only weighed one hundred and twen-

ty pounds. I tried to enlist in the Ma
rines, but was underweight and in
such bad shape physically that they
wouldn’t take me.
“But Tanlac soon did away with
all the sourness, bloating and stom
ach misery and my appetite, which
had been very poor for a long time,
soon came back in full force, and af
ter taking a few bottles of Tanlac I
felt like a different person. I gained
in weight and strength rapidly and
was soon able to pass the right ex
amination required by the Marines
and so I got in that branch of the
service. With the fine start toward
robust health Tanlac gave me before
entering the army and the physical
exercise and training I received while
in the service I came home weighing
one hundred and seventy-two pounds,
and that is my weight today. Quite a
difference in that and what I weigh
ed before I took any Tanlac, isn’t
there? Since being mustered out of
service last year and returning to
my old trade as chef and to my care
less ways of living as well, my stom
ach began bothering me slightly a few
days ago. But knowing so well what
Tanlac did for me before I immedi
ately got a bottle and it soon had me
in first class shape again. One can
certainly depend upon Tanlac for re
sults. At least I have found it that
way and there’s nothing too good for
me to say for it.”
Tanlac is sold in Americus by the
Planters Drug and Seed Co., and in
Sumter by Ewing Mercantile Co.
