An interesting marriage of the;
week was that of Miss Susie Maei
Law and James Franklin Cameron
the wedding taking place Thursday’
I evening at 9 o’clock in the Methodist
: church at Plains, with Rev. C. M J
‘Johnson, pastor of the congregation
officiating. A number of people wit-1
nessed the ceremony, which came at j
the close of the evening service. Im-1
mediately following Mr. and Mrs I
Cameron returned to Americus. Thejsj
are with Miss Docia Fuller at her
home on Forsyth street.
Mrs. Cameron is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Law, of Ameri
cus, and has spent her entire life in
this community. She is a younr wo
man of many charms, and because
of her sweetness of manner she has
many friends who will learn with
pleasure of her happiness.
Mr. Cameron is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Cameron, and possesses
a splendid character.

I ly married Tuesday in that city, only:
the immediate members of the family
and a few close friends witnessing}
the ceremony. Immediately follow
ing the marriage Mr. and Mrs. Eth
ridge left for Florida to spend their
honeymoon of two weeks. Upon
their return they will be at 817 New
street.
This event is of particular interest
to a wide circle of friends of the
bride in Americus, where she was
reared and lived until about a year!

ber of relatives here.

WITH PICNIC PARTY.
Mrs. W. C. Barrow entertained on
Thursday evening at Myrtle Springs
with a delightful uieme party com
plimenting Mrs. 1. J. Smoot, of Val
: dosta, a niece of Mrs. Barrow, and
Mr. and Mrs. Mack Glazier, a recent
j bride and bridegroom.
A bountiful lunch was prepared by
the hostess, and about 6 o'clock the
merry party left Americus for the
springs, where swimming was enjoy

A number of young people enjoy
ed a delightful moonlight picnic at
Myrtle Springs Friday night, going
out early in the evening in motor
cars and returning about midnight
A dip in the cool waters of the
pool at the springs added to the en
joyment of the occasion, and a de
licious lunch served by the girls in

GIBSON FAMILY TO
RESIDE IN MACON.
Mrs. W. E. Gibson and children,
Lane, Dennard and Elizabeth Gibson,
left Saturday afternoon for their
new home in Macon, after a visit of
two weeks to Dr. and Mrs. E. L.
Carswell at their home on Lee St.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibson have recently
moved to Georgia from Grand Rapids
and will make Macon their home.
During Mrs. Gibson’s visit to Mrs.
Carswell through the winter social
season, she was honoree at a num
ber of delightful affairs, and made
many friends among the circle of
Mrs. Carswell’s friends. It is with
pleasure that her friends view Mrs.
Gibson’s nearness to Americus.

FROM AUTOMOBILE TRIP.

liam Carswell returned Friday from
a delightful motor trip through narts
of North Georgia. During their trip
many points of interest were visited.
The roads were in superb condition
all the wa- they report. The wea
ther was delightful, and the mem
bers of the party report, an enjoy
able vacation.

ladies composing a happy crowd en
joying an outing at Kidd’s mill Sat
urday afternoon, chaperoned by Mrs
George Oliver. The boys in the par
ty were H. E. Allen, George Riley.
Egbert Clark, Lorin Smith, Will Ray,
Butt. Swimming was enjoyed, and
afterward a delicious picnic lunch
was spread under the trees and full
justice done to the good things to
eat.

U. D. C. OFFICERS TO
BE INSTALLED TUESDAY.
The local chapter of the United
Daughters of the Confederacy will
hold its regular business meeting at
the clubhouse Tuesday afternoon at
4 o’clock. A regular business ses
sion will be held, at which the in
stallation of the officers elected at
the last fneeting will be a feature,
and at the conclusion the retiring
officers will give a reception to the
incoming officers, to which the en
tire membership is cordially invited.

Mrs. O. K. Powell and two child
ren, of Eastman are visiting Mrs. J.
H. Quarterman, at her home on East
Church street. Mrs. Powell is a
daughter of Mr. J. S Stevens, and
formerly resided in Americus.
Lieutenant Leonard Parker, of
the United States navy, is a visitor
in Americus, the guest of his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Parker, on
College street, during a stay of some
time here.
Miss Ellen Estes will leave Mon
day for New York, where she will
resume her studies in art at Colum
bia School of Expression. She will
be away the remainder of the sum
mer.
T. 0. Marshall is suffering from an
infected hand which is causing him
great inconvenience. Several days
ago he injured his hand slightly while
at work in his garden, and later the
wound became infected.
Jule Felton, solicitor general of
I the Southwestern circuit, was a vis-
I itor in Americus yesterday, coming
down from Montezuma to oppose
motions for new trial in two crimi
nal cases before Judge Littlejohn at
chambers.
Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Daniel have
returned to Americus from a visit of
several weeks to relatives in Florida.
Miss Sarah Daniel accompanied them
home and will remain for some time.
John Butt left Saturday for Cin
cinnati. where he will enter the me
chanical department of a large auto
mobile concern. He plans to learn
the business from the foundation,
and for this purpose considered it ex
pedient to enter a large automobile
factory.

THE LIGHT OVERLAND on Triplex Springs scored
another remarkable triumph, in the annual 355-mile
Los Angeles-Yosemite Economy run. Four out of the
six cups offered fell to Overland cars. In Class One, an
Overland took first place with a gasoline average of 354
miles per gallon. In Class Two an Overland Sedan won
easily with an average of 27.6 miles to the gallon. In /
the Grand Sweepstakes, Overland cars finished first and "
second. The Baker Economy Cup for the best economy
record in gas oil and water also went to Overland.
