STOCKADE HERE
Missionary Societies
Find Place For Service
—2 Convicts Baptized
Many Americus people, especially
the missionary societies are doing a
great work for the prisoners of Sum
ter county. On last Sunday afternoon
Mrs. Will English, of the Methodist
church, took her class to the stock-,
ade and gave a program of songs
and talks.
Next Sunday Mrs. L. B. Lott,'
Superintendent of Mission societies
for the Friendship Baptist associa
tion, will take her Sunday school
class and render a program there.
The inmates are greatly pleased
at these Sunday afternoon visits
from the various churches of the
city, and give the programs close at
tention.
Last Sunday afternoon at the
First Baptist church Dr. Carl W.
Minor administered Holy Baptism to
Sam Duckworth and C. L. Grady, two
well known white prisoners who had
asked admission into the church.
Fred Campbell, who is well known
in Americus as a great worker for
the colored race, has been appoint
ed negro pastor for the stockade,
and every Sunday afternoon services
are held in the main room of the
stockade to members of his race. The
lessons which he teaches are bearing
fruit in a better morale among the
inmates of the stockade, and many
of the inmates have expressed a de
sire for a better mode of living.
Assitsing the negro minister in this
work at the stockade are Joshua
Floyd, Benny Green, Ulas Ray, Rob
ert Smith, Zachary Whitehead, John
Jones, Walter Bryant, Aaron Booth,
John Patterson, B. G. Gibson, Ernest
Bryant, Ben Livingston, and J. C.
Patterson.
Another Americus Case.

It Prove* That There’* a Way Out
For Many Suffering Americus
Folk*
Just another report of a case in
Americus. Another typical case. Kid
ney ailments relieved in Americus
with Doan’s Kidnev Pills.
A. C. Alexander, prop, of grocery,
712 Spring St., Americus, gave the
following statement March 18, 1920:
“My back caused me much suffering.
I was hardly able to perform my du
ties. I had a great deal of trouble
with rheumatic nains. . My kidneys
didn’t act properly, and caused me to
get up several times during the night.
I had heard Doan’s Kidney Pills so
highly s »oken of I decided to try
them. Thev quickly relieved me of
the trouble.”
April 24 1918, Mr. Alexander
said: “It has been many years since
Doan’s Kidnev Pills cured me. I take
them occasionally as a •'reventive.”

With its peach blossoms, it nim
ble-witted crooks, and its blushing

will be seen at the Rylander theater
so one performance tonight. The
most sensational comedy success of
the present theater-going generation,
its coming is one of the great out
standing events of the season, and
patrons are urged to obtain seats
well in advance.
John Golden is sending to this city
the original production and the play
will be seen here exactly as it ran
for a solid yeas each at the Gaiety
theater, New York, and Geo. M.
Cohan’s Grand opera house, Chicago.
There is only one company on tour
in “Turn to the Right,” and this in
cludes several nationally popular fa
forites who have appeared more than
1,000 times in their respective roles.

The story of “Turn to the Right,”)
which is told in a prologue and three |
acts, deals with the happy regenera-i
tion of three wayward youths through ■
the love of a white-haired, saintly)
old lady, the mother of one of them. I
Through it bristles with good fun, its
lesson goes straight to the heart and
places the play on a plane with “The ■
Old Homestead,” “Way Down East” (
and others of that rugged type. In)
its comedy lines and situations it
bears a resemblance to “Lightnin’ ” j
and the “Fortune Hunter” and there
is enough religious spirit to entitle
it to a niche with “Ben Mur.”
