Kidneys, then Back hurts and
Bladder bothers you.
Meat folks forget that the kidneys,
like the bowels, get sluggish and clogged
end need a flushing occasionally, else we
have backache and dull misery in the
kidney region, severe headaches, rheu

orders.
You simply must keep your kidneys
active and clean, and the moment you
feci an ache or pain in the kidney
region, get about four ounces of Jad
Balta from any good drug store here,
take a tablespoonful in a glass of water
before breakfast for a few days and
your kidneys will then act fine. This
famous salts is made from the acid of
grapes and lemon juice, combined wit!.
Tithia, and la harmless to flush clogged
kidneys and stimulate them to normal
activity. It also neutralizes the acids
fa> the urine eo it no longer irritates,
thus ending bladder disorders.
Jad Balta is harmless; inexpensive;
makes a delightful effervescent lithia
water drink wnich everybody should tai e
now and then to keep their kidneys clean,
thus avoiding serious complications.

GERMAN LIOUOR

Reichstag Alarmed At

BERLIN, August 3.—Consumption
of wines and liquors has been in-,
creasing rapidly in German , since I
the war that the R-< f -tag has di
rected the drafting of a law, to he
Introduced at t ie September sc-sion
to regulate the traffic. The law also
will check a growing increase in the
number of saloons which, in Berlin
particularly, ha:- been so rapid that
even the moderates say the health
and morals of the people are endan
gered.
The crime wave which, has been
-weeping the country for many
months, filling the jails of every city
and severely taxing the resourc?, of
the police, is attributed by many to
the “drink-craze” and especially to
the more genera! u.-e, among the
poorer Germans, of cheap cognacs,
green wui-kie-, gin and other ‘’hard
liquors.” The Germans, in fact, are
gradually losing their old reputation
as beer drinkers although an abund
ance of beer is obtainable.
Practically all the cases and wir e
rooms of Berlin are installing “An •
erican bars,” and even the high
priced cabarets, where once only
the best wines were served at tables
for which a charge was made, now
have long mahogany bar., against
wihch the customer may lean, with
his feet on a bras;; foot rail and
drink as long as he has the pr'ce of a
drink or the bartender will trust

as out-tripped ail previous records,
during the past 12 months, mount-:

The principal rendezvous of the:

its customers until early morning, al-1

Publication of the statistics of

brought a prompt demand from radi

for more rigorotss control of this

the profiteers and the moneyed for

There is also a widespread demand

HOLDER TO HEAD
HIGHWAY DEPT.
Hardwick Confirms Of
fer To His Rival In
Campaign
ATLANTA, August 2. —John N.
Holder, former speaker of the house !
of representatives and candidate foi
governor in the last primary, will be
appointed by Governor Thoma- W.
Hardwick to succeed Dr. Charles N.
Strahan as chairman of the state
highway commission when the latter’s
term expires next January, or should
he resign during the intervening pe
riod.
This announcement came from an
official source Monday night, and it
was learned that the chief executive
has already tendered the place to Mr.
Holder. Should the former speaker
accept, he will devote his entire time
to the work of the commission, the
governor having decided that, since
such a large amount of business of
so much importance is transacted by
the commission, the present policy ol
devoting only partial attention to the
duties should be discontinued.
Mr. Holder’s nomination as suc
cessor to Dr. Strahan, should he de
cide to accept, will be sent to the sen
ate during the present session, it is
understood, for ratification. Since
conferring with the governor, Mr.
Holder has been at his home in Jeffer
son considering the matter. There
have been numerous rumors that Dr
Stiahan is planning to resign at an
early date. He could not be reached
last night to affirm or deny these re
ports.
Miss Xirnena Bond, who has been
spending the past month in North
Georgia, has returned to her home
here.
