BENJAMIN H. KAUFFMAN,
Reading, Pa.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that!
Tanlac saved my wife’s life,” was the j
positive statement of Benjamin H. 1
Kauffman, 505 Bingaman St., Read
ing, Pa., popular clothing salesman |
for the well-known fyrra -of • -Gr-01l <L
Keck:
“I was almost desperate from wor-:
rying over her condition, as she had
suffered so long without getting re
lief and 1 can hardly believe my own
eyes now when I see the change in
her. Why, she doesn’t show her age
by twenty years and declares she
never remembers feeling better in
her life. Her health was failing
steadily for a year as a result of ca
tarrh of the stomach, and 1 have
never seen anybody suffer as much
from indigestion and nervousness as
she did.
“After a five weeks’ course of Tan
lac she was like another person, and
I’m firmly convinces that years have
been added to her life. It makes
me shudder now when 1 think what
the result might have been if she
hadn’t taken Tanlac in time.”
Tanlac is sold in Amerieus by the
Planters Seed & Drug company and
by first class druggists everywhere.

' gin, that the victory might be achiev
ed, no single individual stands out so
I prominently as Admiral William
(Sheppard Benson of the United
(States navy. Admiral Benson was
I born and reared in this state. He
! was selected to command that portion
j of the naval work in tt*e world war
‘ which achieved the wonderful record
'in the embarkation and transporta
tion of supplies. In tnat trying time
| he performed his duties in a remark
| aide manner, that his faultier s merit
J and excellence, his glorious and he
j roic service, won for him decorations,
i gratefully bestowed by the govern
- I ments of the United States, of Great
. j Britain, France, Belgium and the
state us New Mexico.
“It. is but fitting, therefore, that
the state which call.- him son should
provide a visible symbol ol the pride
and love of the suite of his birth.
Therefore we, the Georgian Division,
United Daughters of toe Confedera
; ey, desiring to pay homage to Geor-.
i gia’s illustrous son, desiring that he .
! may hi forever assured of the affee- 1

; this sword, as a token of the love of j
Georgia women for < ur greatest na- j
val hero of the world war, and as a \
I mark of the 'heartfelt thanks which j
ail Georgians feel deep w’dhin their j
hearts.”
Admiral Replies.
In accepting the sword, Admiral j
B< nson declared that there are j
times when a person’s heart is filled I
j with gratitude to such an extent that |
woA’ds. are impossible and that he
| felt just that way at the occasion,
j "I did not prepare a speech because
1 I wanted to speak front my heart,”
i Admiral Benson stated, “and it is
. with a feeling of pride and exulta
j tion that what I have done reflects j
J credit upon my native state. The j
j story of my success is a simple one. i
j Front close association with my moth
er and sisters, noble Georgia women,!
i have embedded in me a sense of
| honor that taught me never to shirk j
I duty and to have a friendly feeling
; for those under me. 1 have endeav
| ored to do this throughout my ca
j *>er. Each day 1 have consecrated
| my life to God and trusted in Him
I to guide me through life.
“My life has been a simple, hon-
I est one, and it .is with a feeling of
i pride that at the end of my active
| service that 1 stood highest in my
i line of work. It is also with a.feel
ing of honor that the highest appre
ciation of my services should be a
state and nation-wide occasion.”
Admiral Benson also thanked the
lower house of the legislature for
the vote of appreciation rendered
him. “But it is with a sense of shame
that 1 feel the later action of the
law-making body of Georgia.
“It is with a great sense of ap
preciation that 1 receive this sword
today from the women of Georgia,
as it was my memory of Georgia wo
men that helped me to reflect more
honor on my native state,” he. con
