the dive.
of the most interesting dives, and
requires a supple body.
Good practice for -this dive is try
ing to bend and touch your toes
without bending your knees. This is
good exercise fair anyone.
After standing at attention at the
lower end of the board, run 'and
spring into the air as high hs pos
sible.
At the top of your spring, bend
forward at the hips and touch your
toes.
Remember to keep the toes point
ed.
Keep in this position until near
ing the water, and then straighten
out smartly, entering the water head
first with the arms above the head
and the fingers straight with the
forefingers touching.
When entering the water, you
must not be farther than six feet
from the end of the board.
Next—One and one-half somesault
dive.

WEATHER AIDING
FIGHT ON WEEVIL
Crop Depends On Continuation
Os Weather, Says U. S.
Regional Summary
ATLANTA, July 3.—The weevil
is being held in check by the favora
ble weather, and the crop is depend
< nbsipon suitable weather for a con
tinuance of the fight, says the first
issue of the regional semi-monthly
crop report, just out, prepared by
bureau of agricultural economies, U.
S. Department of Agriculture, and
covering the states of Georgia, North
and South Carolina, Florida and
Tennessee Says the summary:
General Summary
There has been a general and much
needed improvement of crops dui inp
the past two weeks. After the ex
tended period of rains, grass was
very bad and the utmost effort was
necessary to clean the fields. Rain
is now badly needed, particularly for
corn, over most of the belt.
Cotton
Cotton is growing nicely, though
fill backward in the upper portion of
the region. The weevil is being held
in cheek by hot, dry weather, but is
attacking squares wherever they are
sufficiently advanced. The weevil
menace is the most serious ever faced
in this section, and the crop is de
pendent upon the continuance of
weather suitable to fighting the in
sect. Weevil and grass have caused
considerable abandonment. There i
tome increase in Sea 1 land acron e
in Georgia and Florida.
Corn.
The condition of the corn crop i
below the average, this crop having
been neglected for cotton. lieside ;
being late, i* is still grassy and
weedy. Late corn is small and yellow
and needs rain in most ections.
Small Grains
The harvest of small giains has
about been completed and is very
disappointing.
Irish Potatoes.
The early crop has been harvested
except in North Carolina. Yields are
generally good.
'Sweet Potatoes
The weather has suited sweet po
tatoes, resulting in a condition above
that of all other field crop . Digjin;
has begun in the south.
F ruits
There has been a decline in the
Georgia peach prospects. Apples are
in good condition. The Florida citru.
prospect improves with heavy June
bloom. Watermelon and cantaloupe
