Miss Mary English was hostess to the members of the Thursday 42 club at her home on South Lee street Thursday morning. A pretty compliment to Miss Mary Alice Lingo, a bride-elect, was the handkerchief shower given by the 42 club of which the honoree is a member, at the home of Mrs. Grey Tillman on Horne street Thursday afternoon. Giant marigolds in wall pockets and baskets formed the decorations and the color motif of yellow and green was carried out in the re freshments. Little Grey Tillman and Virginia Morgan presented Miss Lingo with a large basket, the handle of which was tied with yellow tulle. The bas ket was filled with dainty hand made handkerchiefs. Mrs. Tillman was assisted in serv ing by Mrs. R. B. Hightower and l Miss Sarah Hightower. Those present were Miss Lingo, ' Mrs. C. M. Hal l , Mrs. Fred Smith, Mrs. George Holston, Mrs. Kellett.
