ernoon Mrs. James Lott entertained
in a most delightful manner the Fri
day Afternoon club and several in
vited guests at her apartment on Fur
low street, Americus. The hall and
living room whel-e the guests were
received was tastily arranged with
quantities of pink bud placed in silver
baskets and other attractive flower
holders. At the .conclusion of the
game Mrs. David Jennings ami Miss
Edith Creighton assisted Mrs. Lott
to serve a delicious salad course
Playing were Mrs. J. H. Monts, Mrsi
Millard Jennings, Mrs. J. R. Logan,
Mrs. Mark Chambliss, Mrs. Frank

announcement of the mar
riage of Miss Lottie Meadows and
Mr. Philip Wise on Sunday evening,
came as a pleasant surprise to their
many friends. With several friends
they drove to Americus and to the
home of Rev. H. T. Brookshire, who
received the vows. Miss Meadows is
from near Cuthbert, but for the past
f< months has been in training in
the hospital here* Mr. Wise is the
eldest son of Mr. Tyre Wise and is
engaged in sawmill work near Rich
land. Mr. and Mrs. Wise left Mon
day for a visit to relatives near Cuth- I
bert and in North Carolina.
Mrs. Herschel Bray, of Atlanta,
came Monday to spend several days
the guests of her mother, Mrs: Lillie
Jennings, at her home here.
Master Linton Godwin left Tues
day for a visit of a week with rela
tive:; in Tampa, Fla.
Joe Wise. Miss Minnie Wise. Miss

Earl Carter returned Sunday eve
ning from a brief business trip to
Atlanta.
Mrs. Cornleia Jennings is spend
ing several days with relatives in
Americus.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Wise and chil-I
dren spent Sunday with relatives at I
Sumter.
Mr. and Mrs. Bowman Wise, Mrs. :
Dora Young, Mrs. Thad Wise and
Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Oliver were
among those from Plains attending
Al G. Field's minstrel in Americus
Monday evening.
M’-. Alvin Timmerman was called
to Columbus Saturday on account of
the -erious illness of her father, Mr.
Cody, at his home there.
Mr. and Mrs. K. J. Carpenter and
Miss Jennie Carpenter, while en route
to their home in Ruhterfordton, N.
C., after a month pleasantly spent
in’Florida, are spending several days
ihe guest of their daughter, Mrs.
Sam Burgin.
Mrs. George Mims returned Sun
day from a visit of several days with
friends in Americus.
The Barbecue club entertained at
'linger Monday evening at Magnolia
Springs the members and a number
of invited guests. The usual menu,
barbecue.' Brunswick stew, pickles,
•’ id and hot coffee was thorough
■njoyed. The club has recently
re-covered the large pavillion where
dinner is served and also installed a
lighting plant which adds greatly to
the comfort and convenience of the
visitors.
