PLAINS, May 29.—A delightful
[social eevnt of the past week was
the party Friday afternoon at which
Mrs. Mark Chambliss entertained
her club and several outside friends.
The home was tastily) decorated with
a profusion of garden flowers, snap
dragons, sweet peas, Dorothy Per
kins roses arranged in vases and 1
baskets and placed on' pedestals and i
mantels. At the conclusion of the I
game Mrs. Linton Godwin assisted
Mrs. Chambliss to serve a delicious
salad course and ice course. Play
ing were twenty.
Tuesday evening at the home Mrs.
J. R. Logan, Mrs. Logan with Mrs.
Roy Brannen and Mrs. J. C. Logan
entertained at a pleasant party. The
rooms where the tables were placed
were thrown together and decorated
with quantities of sweet peas and
Dorothy Perkins roses arranged in
French wicker baskets, crystal vases
and wall pockets. At the conclujs- 1
ion of the game the hostesses assisted
by Mrs. Mary Campbell and Mrs.
E. E. Cook served an ice course car
rying out the dainty color scheme
of pink and white. Playing were
forty-eight guests .
On Thursday afternoon Mrs. J-
H. Williams was hostess to the
Young Matrons’ club and a few out
side friends. The Williams home
attractively decorated with quanti
ties of sweet peas in pretty flower
holders platted at intervals about the
room. Blooming geranium plants
added to the effectiveness of the dec
orations. Mrs. J. H. Dodson and Mrs.
E. L. Bridges assisted Mrs. Williams
to serve delicious refrehments.
Sixteen guests were playing.

ry Walters, Mi’s. Mary Will Wads
worth, Earline I Wadsworth and
Chyidy Holston, ail of Macon, were

which the following is the caption,
will be introduced at the approach
ing session of the General Assembly
of Georgia, at the request of the
Mayor and City Council of Ameri
cus;
AN ACT to be Entitled. “An Act
to amend an Act to Revise and Con
solidate the several Acts Granting
Corporate authority to the City of
Americus, approved November 11.
1889, so that after the passage of
this Act the Mayor and Citv Council
of Americus shall have the right and
authority to levy an ad valorem tax of
one-half of one percentum in addition
to the tax already authorized, and
to provide that the amounts raised by
said levy be kept separate and dis
tinct from other funds of the ci ,v
and to be applied only to the pay
ment of the out-standing floating in
debtedness of the City of Americus,
and to supplement the present school
fund of the Board of Public Educa
tion for the City of Americus, to
pay operating expenses, not to ex
ceed two mills of such one-half of
one percentum; to authorize the
Mayor and City Council of Americus
to execute notes and sell the same
in anticipation of this tax lew and
• r other purposes.”
