FIGHT CALLED OFF
Rains Which Made Valdosta
Fair Grounds Sea of Mud,
Prevents Match
MACON, May 29.—Young Strib
ling did not meet Blil Bailey, of
Atlanta, in Valdosta last night, as
was cheduled. After making the
trip to Valdosta, the local fighter
and Bill Bailey were doomed to
disappointment.
Th erains which have fallen all
' over the state during the past three
i days made the fair grounds at
Valdosta almost a sea of mud, and
the promoters decided that it would :
be useless to attempt to hold the
fight there. Stribling may meet
i Bailey at some later date.

WEEVIL POISON INVENTOR
MAKES PUBLIC FORMULA
J. J. Littlejohn, whose farm is
located in West Dougherty, near
Walker station, has made public
here the results of an experiment he
has been making in killing the cot
ton boll weevil. Mr. Littljohn has
been using a poison mixture which
he describes as cheap and efficac
ious. This mixture, said Mr. Lit
tlejohn, was concocted by David
Coker, of Hartsville, S. C., and is
made as follows:
One gallon black strap molasses,
20 cents. One gallon water, one
pound calcium arsenate, 19 cents.
Mix Calcium with warm (not hot)
water first.
Make a mop of a stick and rag
and put mixture in bud of cotton
stalk.
One gallon of this mixture, Mr.
Littlejohn says, will cover one
acre, and one hand ought to put
down five acres a day.
In experimenting with this mix
ture, Mr. Littlejohn says, he treat
ed a cotton stalk with the mixture
and they enclosed it with a fine
screen. Under his screen he put
twelve weevils, leaving them there
overnight. -The next morning he
foufid nine dead weevils, and the
other three were sick.
VALDOSTA TEAM LEADS

The Valdosta team of course de
feated Quitman and with Thomas
ville dropping a game, the change
in places on the score card was a
