Raiway dispatcher’s Valdosta of.
fice each day indicates something j
of the tremendous movement of i
trains out of this city. The big I
board is now filled with the reg-11
ular and extra trains being operat
ed and practically every member
of the operating force is given all
the runs the law allows. The num
ber of locomotives being cared for
in the Valdosta shops now run be
tween fifty and sixty and the force
of men needed to maintain these
big machines in constant running
order has recently been consider
ably increased. With the opening
of the melon shipping season in the
next two weeks the number of
men. locomotives and cars will be
again increased.
PHOMAS TO STAGE FIRST
CO-OPERATIVE HOG SALE |
THOMASVILLE. June 11
Thomas county will stage its first I
co-operative; hog sale on the sis- |
teenth of June at 10 oclock a. j
m. This plan has been arranged
by the promoters and Mr. Webb of
the state bureau of markets willl
come down for the occasion and
sell the hogs.
This is merely an effort on the
part of local business men to pro
vide a market for hogs at various
times of year. The sale will be
well planned and bids will be re
ceived from all available sources.
“CLEAN MILK” SLIDES
ARE SENT TO VALDOSTA
VALDOSTA, June 11—The city
realth department has been noti
fied by the department at Wash
ngton that an official set of slides |
entitled “Production of Clean <
Milk,’’ has been shipped to Vai I
iosta for use in educating the pib
lic in regard to clean milk. The de
partment advises the .city that the
jse of these slides is granted for
i period of one month, after which
:hey are to be passed on to anoth
er place where educational work
as this kind is being done. As soon
is these slides arrive arrangements
will he made for showing them to
the public.

VALDOSTA, June 11.—Up to
Saturday of last week two hun
dred and thirty six teachers had
enrolled and entered the summer
school at the Georgia State Wo
mans College. Others have been
coming through this week, but have
not yet been added to the original
list. These late comers were teach
ers whose schools did not close un
til last week.
THIEVES ROB ADEL

the post office at Adel and took
cash and stamps amounting to
$10.50 according to a report. In
spectors are now investigating the
robbery.
