WOMEN AND CHILDREN
HELP IN BULGAR REVOLT
SOFIA, Nov. 14.—(8y the As
sociated Press.) —Questioned con
| cerning rumors current of si»r
(nary and alleged killing of their
wives and children since the crush
ing of the recent icvclutien, Pre
mier Tsankofi said-
‘t navtr no doubt Here were ex
cesses during the progress of the
M-ruggle *4’or the restoration of or
der. As soon as rumors of excess
es reached the ears of the govern
ment, however, measures were tak
en by the ministerial council to
check abuses and insure strict ob
servance of the law. Wherever
evidence of illegality or cruelty
could be discovered the guilty pep
sins were immediately put uhder
judicial process.”
As to the rumors that women
and children have been killed in
considerable numbers, it was stated
that a feature of the uprising was
the large proportion of public
school pupils who took part in it,
rifle or revolver in hand. These
have been treated as belligerents.
The proportion of women who took
an active part in the disturbance
was equally remarkable, but an
amnesty to women and minors is
being generally extended.
