honor, Mrs. Hugh L. Speer, gowned
in a grey charmeuse and wearing
a black picture hat. She carried a
bouquet of white chrysanthemums
and asparagus fern.
The maid of honor, Aliss Lota
Speer, just preceded the bride and
wore a black velvet gown’ trim
med in fur. She carried gold
chrysanthemums and ferns. ,
As the bride entered, with the
'.room, the "Bridal Chorus’’ was
softly rendered, followed by an im
pressive ring ceremony, which was
performed by Rev. H. J. Johnston.
The bride wore a beautiful tan
going-away suit with accessories to
match. A bouquet of Russell roses
completed her costume.
The bride and groom left im
mediately for Alontgomery, Ala.,
where they are spending - a few days
before returning to their home in
Fayette, Ala.

effectively. The table was most

that belonged to Air. Brooks, mother
and father. Handsome silver bas
kets tailed with narcissi and pink
roses adorned the center of the long
table and was placed on a ■ ex
quisite lace cloth, which also be
longed to Air. Brooks’ mother. On
one end of the table was a beauti
fully embossed birthday cake, hold
ing 78 tiny candles, designating the
age of the honor guest.. The places
were marked with dainty cards.

son-in-law was toast master on
this happy occasion, and as the
guests entered the dining room lit
tle Gus Harris welcomed his grand
father with the song, ‘Happy Bith
day to You!’’
An elegant course dinner was
served at one o’clock. Covers were

motion effort on Next Saturday, January sth. Nothing like the success of
this campaign has ever before been attained in the way of expandng trade

ing in the Pay-Up and Trade Campaign are determined they shall know
their trade is appreciated. Accordingly they are arranging to bring the
campaign to a close with the greatest offerings of bargains ever known in
the mercantile history of this entire section. Vast advantages are to be se
cured by your being in Americus on next Saturday. On that day the Pay-
Up Campaign ends and it is positively stated that there will be no such es
fort undertaken soon.
Hundreds of dollars are to be distributed in the gigantic sharing event, and '
