YOUNG STRIBLING WINS
IN NO-DECISION BOUT
NEWARK, N. J., Jan. 2.—(By
Associated Pressi —W. L. (Young)
Stribling, 19-year-old Georgia high
school aspirant for pugilistic' hon
iors, battered his way to a decisive
I victory over Dave Rosenlburg,
rugged Brooklyn middleweight, this
'afternoon in a bristling 12-round
bout before a New Year’s Day
crowd of more than 7,000, in the
First! Regiment Armory.
Dominating the fight from start
to fnish with an aggressive, vig
orous attack, Stribling’s triumph
was convincing to the first metro
politan audience that has seen him
THE AMERICUS TIMES-RECORDER
in action. No official decision was
rendered under the New Jersey
boxing laws, but newspaper critics
at the ringside were unanimous in
giving Stribling their verdict. A i
majority credited the Southern|
youth with nine of the twelve I
rounds, giving one to Rosenberg [
and classing two as even.
