The Valentine color motif, red
and white, was carried out in, ev
ery detail, red carnations aim
fresias filling baskets and silver vas
es in living room and dining room
where the tables were arranged for
the game. Cupids myraids of
hearts and other valentine symbols
tyerp used in artistic profusion.
Preceding the game a delicious
salad course with cranberry ico
which further carried the attractive
Valentine color scheme was served,
and compotes of salted nuts and
mints were placed, on each table.
The high score prizes, lovely
Ivory boudoir novelties were won
by Mrs. Cobb Milner, and Carr
Glover, Mrs. Thomas Vereen, of
Moultrie was presented with a bot
tle of French perfume.
The guest list included Mr. and
Mrs. Lucius McCloskey, Mr. and
Mrs. D. R. Andrews, Mr. and Mrs.

SOUTHERN BELL EMPLOYES
GIVE VALENTINE DANCE.
An enjoyable affair of Thursday
evening was the Valentine danee
given by the Souther Association
of Southern Bell Telephone em
ployes in the building previously
occupied by the Tea Room.
The rooms opened to the guesC?
were elaborately decorated, sugges
tive of the spirit of St. Salentines
Day-long festoons of hearts of
many sizes over doors and windows
red carnations in baskets, and at
tractive favors, etc., that- charming
ly carried out the Valentine idea.
A most interesting program, ar
ranged by Mrs. Cooper Bradley,
supervisor of the Americus ex
change, was given, which included
interesting talks by members of the
local exchange, as well as visiting
officials who were guests for the
occasion. A welcome address was
given by Mr. J. H. Clarke, wire
chief of the Americus exchange, fol
lowed by several musical selections
by the Mandolin Club, which is com
posed of John Ed Chapman, Gordon
Brooks, S. L. Hammond, and Lin
ton Lester. Welbur Smith, accom
panied by Miss Elmer Parrish, at
the piano, gave a delightful vpcal
selection, followed by a piano solo
by Miss : Parrish.
Interesting talks were made by
Mr. L. J. Sheppard, of Atlanta, who
is division chairman of the Southern
Association of Bell Telephone Em
ployes; Mr. L. D. Sharp, of At
lanta, secretary of Employees Bene
fit Fund; Mr. W. C. Hutt, of At
lanta, safety first man for South
ern Bell -Group; Mr. Evans Robin
son, of Macon, district traffic man
ager, of the Georgia division; Mr.
Emory, of Macon, district plant
foreman; and Paul Westbrook, ma-.i
ager of the local exchange.
One of the most attractive' fea
tures of the program was the Val
entine dance, given by twelve gills
who were lovely in Valentine cos
tume fashioned of pink and white
crepe paper with bouffant skirts.
These were Misses Rena Subers,
Richard Damon, Ruth Belthius,
Marie Martin, Julia Martin, Julia
Mae Owen, Eva Braswell, Beulah
Phillips Eva Philips, Willie Dur
ham, Ruby Archer, Winona Bur
ton. - ,
After the pogram, dancing was
enjoyed until a late hour, when a
delicious salad course was served
and the Valentine box was opened,

Announccemnt is authorized by
Principal J. M. Franco of the Third
District Agricultural school, that a
splendid picture will be shown in
the auditorium of the administra
tion building this evening, which
Will be of vital interest to the com
munity because of the fact that it
is in the nature of a fellow to the
series of lectures recently given in
Americus by; Dr. Charles E. Barker,
under the auspices of the Americus
Rotary club.
The picture consists of 12 reels,
but po depicited that they will hold
the closest attention of the pub
lie throughout, and is a picture- the
entire .community should see, Prin
cipal Prance says.
Mr. France, in announcing the
picture for this evening, expresses
regret that it should come in con
flict with the basket ball to be
played on the Aggie indoor court
this evening but that the picture has
been scheduled for this date for
some time, with postponement or
cancellation impossible.
The game will begin at 7 o'clock
and Principal Prance says that
those desiring to see the full picture
may do so from the auditorium at
7 o’clock, or should they prefer to
see the game and then the picture,
that a sufficient number of reels
will be shown following the game
to hojd interest.
The public is most cordially in

sided in Americus, and has numer
