SfflE LUW
TH ABANDONED
Continued from page one
committee.
After explaining his position in
the matter, Representative Hclden
of Clarke county wl.h con
sent of the two other authors of
the bill asked the house to penn.t
withdrawal of a measure introduc
ed last Friday which would tax lux
uries, principally on soft drink
syrups. Mr. Holden stated he is
now convinced that the tax would
be passed on to bottlers and drug
gists by 'the manufacturers and
that he believes the retailers al
ready have all the tax burdens they
can carry.
In the senate, the Atlanta via
duct bill again on the calendar for
passage at today’s session. Several
other minor bills of a general hat
ture were to be taken up at the
conclusion of the viaduct bill.
With a good attendance, support
ers of the viaduct bill were certain
of its passage. It would amend
the city charter of Atlanta so as to
permit of construction of viaducts
over railroad tracks at Central Ave.
and at Pryor Street.

The Modern Practice
In ‘Summer Complaint’
“Looseness” is frequent in sum
mer because children will eat un
ripe or overripe friut, raw vege
tables and other indigestible food.
Fermentation follows quickly.
Sometimes, there is •fever, pain or
vomiting, and nearly always a diar
rhoea, which simply means that na
ture is trying to clear out the poi
son and gas.
The oldiideaa —a serious mistake
—was to check it with blackberry
or some other astringent. What
is needed is a cathartic. Hurry up
with the cleaning-out process. Then
give a lighter diet for a while.
Castor oil is good, but better still
is Liv-o-Lax, which does the work
thoroughly, and the children like to
take it. You can get a good-sized
bottle at the drug store for 30c.
