SIO,OOO Being Spent on Local
Building By New Tenant—
To Occupy In January
Work of remodeling tie building

F. W. Woolworth Co began Tues
day morning under the supervision
ot H. R. Chilcott, construction engi
neer for the “ten cent - ’ store in
terests.
Many changes are to 1 e made in
the' property and it is estimated
that over SIO,OOO will ’<<■ spent by

the building.
The front of the store will be
fitted with large plate glass win
dows and the entrance will be chang
ed. The building lengthened fifteen
feet from the rear, hard wood floor,

installed.
The second floor of the building
will be used as a stockroom and a.t
a rest room for employees. The
managers office will also be locat
ed on this floor.
Mr. Chilcott states that the new
store will have ntodern fixtures and
conveniences that are to be found
in the Woolworth stores in other
cities and that he is planning to
. make the building one of the most
attractive stores in Americus.
Remodeling of the building will
required about a mont and it is the
opinion of Mr. Chilcott that the
new store will have it’s opening
shortly after the first of the year
The building is th" property of
Mrs, Maude S. Holliday and was
leased for a period of 15 years by
the Woolworth Co., through Geo,
