UPSHAW REFUSED
PERMISSION TO
SPEAK IN SCHOOL
Rule in Baltimore County Forbids
Address to Students On Con
troversial Subjects
BALTIMORE. Md . Nov 6.—Rep
resentative William D. Upshaw, of
Georgia, was refused admittance to
the Towson High School in Balti
more County, when he went there
to deliver an address to the students,
it became known Thursday.
It was explained by John 0.
Herschner, assistant superintendent,
of schools for Baltimore County, that
a ruling of the Baltimore County
school board forbade addresses on
controversial subjects in the county
schools, and that because Mr. Up
shaw had not announced his subject
before going to the school it became
necessary for the principal, Arthur
C. Cromer, to refuse him admit
tance.
Mr. Upshaw went to the high
school with Rev. Mark Depp, pas
tor of the Towson Methodist Epis
copal Church, who had requested
that Mr. Upshaw be allowed to speak
It developed today that Mr. Upshaw
address was to have borne the title,
Pluck and Purpose. The Georgia
congressman characterized the inci
dent as “attempt to muzizle” him,
and in a later speech ;at Rev. Dr.
Depp’s church, said the refusal to al
low him to speak at the school >:,c
dered on the laws of the dark ages.”

Shoulder sprained, returns
to work next day
A remarkable case of quick relief
from pain and a phenomenally rapid
recovery from a bad tsprain is told by
a stockyards worker in Davenport,
lowa.
“I was loading a quarter of beef,
and coming out of the cooler I slipoed
and sprained my shoulder. I used
Sloan’s Liniment and the next day I
was able to go back to work. It does
work like wonder to relieve pain.”
This is one letter—typical of thou
sands received by the makers of
Sloan’s, that tell how sprains, bruises,
lame muscles, have been helped by
this wonderful liniment.
What is the secret of its marvelous
effectiveness? It is the healing tide of
fresh, new blood that Sloan’s sends
right to the place that hurts.
No need to rub. The medicine it
self does the work. Quickly and surely
it takes down the swelling and in

star performers among animals not
so ferocious in nature, while the
feathered kingdom is also well rep
resented.
The Five Bibb County pigs sim

every performance, for there are few
things more ludicrous than the small
porker when he is trying not to “act
like a pig.”

wish to purchase their «eats down
