COLONEL MOUDY
OF THE FLYING
SQUADRON HERE
Delivered Strong Address Last
Night at the First Baptist
Church
The first ma.-s meeting of the se
ries of mass meetings t at is being
held by The Flying Squadron Foun
oation was held last night at the
First Baptist Church.
The meeting was presided over by
Rev. Joe M. Branch, who returned
from Cordele just in time for the ■
meeting. The address of the even
ing was made by Col. Alfred L.
Moody, formerly commander of 1..
One Hundred Fifty-first Artillery of
the United States Army, which reg
iment was in some of the hardest
fighting of the lat‘e war.
Col, Moody's subject was, “The
Rock of Liberty," and in his address
he called attention to the various
tributes that have been paid the
American Constitution by both for
eign and American tsatements.
He then pointed out that the
American Constitution was the foun
dation of our liberty in that it pro
vides for our freedom, for the own
ership of property, for the perpetu
ation of the American government
and for our peace and happiness. He
especially called attention to the
eighteenth amendment to our Con
stitution and said that it was only
one of nine amendments that had
been added to the American Consti
tution in the one hundred thirty-four
years of the American Constitution's
history.
In a very stirring way he called
for the enforcement of the laws that
enforce this amendment.. Two things
are being demanded of the Prohibi- |
tion forces. First that a conviction
of the liquor laws for the first of- .
sense will mean a straight sentence
to the penitentiary for American cit
izens. Second, the conviction of the
violation of Prohibition laws by an '
unnaturalized American would mean
his being deported.
Another i ass meeting will be held
this afternoon at three o’clock and
will be presided over by Rev. H. H
Shirley, and will be addressed by Rev
John M. Oliver of the First Meth-
