Yoar former Dawson correspondent,
“W. K. P.," left, our city yesterday, hav
ing accepted a position on tho staff of tbe
Eufaula Daily Times. We very muoh
regret the loss of Prof. Pilsbury from
onr town, and will sadly mba bia ex
cellent letters in tbe Bkcoiiukb. We
congratulate tbe Times on it* acquisition,
and as the Profeeeor’s mother and sisters
still reside in Dawson, we know we shall
see him on our streets occasionally. His
many friends in Dawson wish him un
bounded success in bis new fteld^of use

Mr. Robert F. Baldwin, of Winchester.
Ga,, accompanied by his wife, arrived in
onr city yesterday, and will remain a few
days with his brother, Moses H. Baldwin
Sr., and bis many nephews.
Three deaths have occured in onr
county since last issue of the llKttmitKii,
viz., Mr. Rnbinsou, about seventy-five
years of age: little EUie Carver, aged 3
years; and little Felder P.arce, aged
fifteen month*.
Tbe weather is very dry in thia section.
Crops of all kinds suffering, and cotton
is being badly injured by rust. It is now
conceded by many that there will not
bo over half a cotton crop msdo in tbi*

Webster Co., Aug. 2H.—The cotton
crop of this county is very poor and is
opening rapidly. Plenty of corn made
in this count}* to do it a year. Peas snd
potatoes are now doing well since we have
had a good rain.
There has bceu a great revival at Rich-
hind and Antioch chnrche* in this county.
About sixty persons have been baplized
by Rev. Matthew Page and Kev. M. II. 1*
Uinlon, pastors of4bc two churches.
Politic* art beginning to warm up in
this county. There are several names, a*
usual, for Rcpreaentstive; hut Hon. J. II.
Hudson seems to he taking the lead in
the north half of tbe county.
