the books of the Justices of l’eace
and Notaries Public Is In accord
ance with the law so far ns we
know. ,
We find the County Jail in good
condition except it needs more ven
tilation, to which we call the atten
tion of the proper authorities.
Wo ilud the Court House in good
order, but recomuieud that chairs
be furnished for Traverse Jury, also
the blinds be kept shut.
We fiud the public roads and
bridges in the county are in good
condition.
Having considered the expenBlvo
system by which our paupers are
cared for at preseut, we recommend
that proper authorities purchase
land and equip it for a poor farm at
as early date as practical.
The terms of three members of
the Board of Education, H, M.
Marshall, W. H. Cosby and G. W.
Cole have expired. We recom
mend in their place Jonathan Lit
tle, J. R. Stapleton and J. W. Tim
merman.
We also rcommeud that G. W.
Dillard succeed himself as Notary
Public, liis term having expired.
We recommend that the same
finance committee be continued,also
that an attorney or some competent
person be employed to assist them
to examine tbe books of the Ordi
nary aud Sheriff's ofllces aud re
port on the Bame at each April
term of the court.
We recommend these present
ments be printed in the Amkkicl-s
Recorder as per previous contract.
We extend to his Honor, Judge
Fort, the usual compliments for the
able aud dignified manner in which
he lias presided over this court; al
so to the Solicitor General the usual
courtesies for tlie many favors
shown the Grand Jury.

Work Begun.
Work on tlie S. A. M. road repair
shops on Sullivan street, began yes-
day. The timber for the structure
is on the ground, and a large force
of carpenters was at work yesterday
preparing the framing. The build
ing will be completed in about
three weeks.
