Ainericus, Ga., May 20, 181*1.
Tho Antorieus postoffico is to bo trans
ferred to new and moro commodious
quarters in tho Allen House block to
morrow or tho day after.
Most convenient quarters aro being
fittod up in that portion of tho building
formerly usod as a saniplo room, and
just as soon as this is made ready tho
work of moving the offico will begin.
There will ho no delay of business
caused by tho removal, as Postmaster
Roney lias so well porfectod all necessa
ry dotaiis that the transforof all tho
furniture, boxos, etc., can bo madoina
fow hours and with no ineonvcnionco to
tho public whatever.
Tho entrance to the new office will he
from Colton avenue, ono door north of
the ma'n entrance to tho hotel. There
ample quarters have been provided, and
tho change will prove an agreeable one
from tho stuffy little building which the
business of tho postoffico outgrew many
years ago.
Tl'.cso quarters, however, are only
temporary, as Messrs. Johnson & Har-
rold will at onco begin tho erection of
tho handsome now brick building de
signed for that purpose, and which will
occupy tho site of tho old office. This
work was bognn sometime sinco, and
already tiie basement walls in the rear
of the present office have been built up
to tho first tloor.
This new building, as is well under
stood, is to form a part of the Forsyth
street addition to the hotel building.
The plans of tho proposed structure aro
very handsome, and the new building
will add vastly to the appoarance of that
portion of tho city. Half of the space on
the lirst tloor will bo arrangod for the
postoflice, while the remainder will be
elegantly fitted up as a bank building.
Tho rooms overhead will be used as
apartments for the hotel.
By special permission of Secretary of
War Proctor and General Von Kaltcn-
born, Prussian minister of war, Lieuten
