Mi. Ilceth makes a public apology , . j,}, as sault upon Mr. Slierley, and I wj. sherley, in an equally public man- ikh, regrets having thrown Mr. Ileeth „ut of the door. Mr. Ileeth is the son of a prominent operator on the Chicago board of trade. He has been in Louisville for several months running the social gamut, during which period he is said to have become engaged t<» a wealthy young lady of this city. It was over spine gossip reflecting upon the latter and attributed to Mr. Mierlev that the original trouble arose. Mi. Ileeth undertook to thrash Mr. Hierlev in his own house, but was un ceremoniously thrown out of the door. Talk of a duel followed, with the re- above stated. suit Til E CHARTER CHANTED id (lie Anierieus .lewelry Company Will soon Re Ready for Btisliieit*. Among the charters granted in the perior court during the week was that of the Americas Jewelry Company, uhieli will begin business herein a short while with a paid up capital of $15,000. A' is well known, the company will l.e a consolidation of the firms’ of J. E. >iillivan A Sons and J. T. Cotney & Co., under the name of the Americas Jewel ry Company. Both are well known houses, having for many years catered to the trade of this city and section. The store now occupied by Sullivan A* sons has been leased by the new compa ny for a term of years, and will be great ly enlarged and improved andi put in first class condition. This work will probably begin in a few days under the supervision of Architect T. A. Kluttz, who drew the plans for the front and the interior arrangements. 2;The appearance of the store will be vastly improved by the putting in of a very handsome iron and plate glass front, different in many respects from any yet put up here. All the iron work i> being made by the Americas Iron Woiks, whose bid for the same was low- i*i than it could be bought either in 1 hattanooga oi Birmingham. The new business will bo under the management of Messrs. James T. Cotney uni If. I.. Sullivan, both practical watch makers, and Mr. L. C. Bell, who will probably take charge of the^books as I *ell as look after the sales department, j Vll are pushing and energetic young msiness men and arc bound to make a mvess of the enterprise. The new company expect to begin nisi ness the latter part of August or the irst of September at the farthest. Washington, property of assessor! present value of 880.000. The condi tions of this noble gift are most gener ous and liberal, and I hope soon to be at liberty to give fuller information as to the terms named and the methods adopted for complying with them. I must add that I have good reasons to hope that this is soon to be followed by other generous gifts from other parties, bearing witness to the great interest which the purpose has awakened, and giving us good reason to hope for a gen eral enthusiasm, which will in due time enable us to have at the capital of the nation, not only the great buildings which may he lit for such a purpose and worthily represent the church’s posi tion and zealous love, but also the means and power to do a grand and real work for Christ aud Ilis truth in the (Jospel, and the souls lie came to save.” Restores the original color to faded and gray hair, keeps the scalp clean, and imparts that natural gloss and freshness so universally admired. “A little more than two years ago my hair • “Ayer's Hair Vigor Is excellent for the began turning gray and falling out.
